18 Consequently, just as one trespass resulted in condemnation for all people,(A) so also one righteous act resulted in justification(B) and life(C) for all people. 19 For just as through the disobedience of the one man(D) the many were made sinners,(E) so also through the obedience(F) of the one man the many will be made righteous.

20 The law was brought in so that the trespass might increase.(G) But where sin increased, grace increased all the more,(H) 21 so that, just as sin reigned in death,(I) so also grace(J) might reign through righteousness to bring eternal life(K) through Jesus Christ our Lord.

Dead to Sin, Alive in Christ

What shall we say, then?(L) Shall we go on sinning so that grace may increase?(M) By no means! We are those who have died to sin;(N) how can we live in it any longer?

18 Therefore as by the offence of one judgment came upon all men to condemnation; even so by the righteousness of one the free gift came upon all men unto justification of life.

19 For as by one man's disobedience many were made sinners, so by the obedience of one shall many be made righteous.

20 Moreover the law entered, that the offence might abound. But where sin abounded, grace did much more abound:

21 That as sin hath reigned unto death, even so might grace reign through righteousness unto eternal life by Jesus Christ our Lord.

What shall we say then? Shall we continue in sin, that grace may abound?

God forbid. How shall we, that are dead to sin, live any longer therein?
