Romans 4:18-25

¹⁸In hope beyond hope, he trusted that he would become the father of many nations according to what was spoken—“So shall your descendants be.” ^[a] ¹⁹And without becoming weak in faith, he considered his own body—as good as dead, since he was already a hundred years old—and the deadness of Sarah’s womb. ²⁰Yet he did not waver in unbelief concerning the promise of God. Rather, he was strengthened in faith, giving glory to God. ²¹He was fully convinced that what God has promised, He also is able to do. ^[b] ²²That is why “it was credited to him as righteousness.”^[c]

²³Now not only for his sake was it written that it was credited to him, ²⁴but for our sake as well. It is credited to us as those who trust in Him who raised Yeshua our Lord from the dead. ²⁵He was handed over for our transgressions and raised up for the sake of setting us right.^[d]

¹⁸Against all hope, Abraham in hope believed and so became the father of many nations,^(A) just as it had been said to him, “So shall your offspring be.”^[a]^(B) ¹⁹Without weakening in his faith, he faced the fact that his body was as good as dead^(C)—since he was about a hundred years old^(D)—and that Sarah’s womb was also dead.^(E) ²⁰Yet he did not waver through unbelief regarding the promise of God, but was strengthened^(F) in his faith and gave glory to God,^(G) ²¹being fully persuaded that God had power to do what he had promised.^(H) ²²This is why “it was credited to him as righteousness.”^(I) ²³The words “it was credited to him” were written not for him alone, ²⁴but also for us,^(J) to whom God will credit righteousness—for us who believe in him^(K) who raised Jesus our Lord from the dead.^(L) ²⁵He was delivered over to death for our sins^(M) and was raised to life for our justification.^(N)
