17 Therefore in Christ Jesus I have found (A)reason for boasting in (B)things pertaining to God. 18 (C)For I will not presume to speak of anything [a]except what (D)Christ has accomplished through me, [b]resulting in the obedience of the Gentiles by word and deed, 19 in the power of [c](E)signs and wonders, (F)in the power of the Spirit; so that (G)from Jerusalem and all around as (H)far as Illyricum I have [d]fully preached the gospel of Christ. 20 And in this way I aspired to (I)preach the gospel, not where Christ was already known by name, (J)so that I would not build on another person’s foundation; 21 but just as it is written:

(K)They who have not been told about Him will see,
And they who have not heard will understand.”

22 For this reason (L)I have often been prevented from coming to you; 23 but now, with no further place for me in these regions, and since I (M)have had for many years a longing to come to you 24 whenever I (N)go to Spain—for I hope to see you in passing, and to be (O)helped on my way there by you, when I have first (P)enjoyed your company [e]for a while— 25 but now, (Q)I am going to Jerusalem, (R)serving the [f]saints. 26 For (S)Macedonia and (T)Achaia have been pleased to make a contribution for the poor among the [g]saints in Jerusalem. 27 For they were pleased to do so, and they are indebted to them. For (U)if the Gentiles have shared in their spiritual things, they are indebted to do them a service also in material things. 28 Therefore, when I have finished this, and (V)have [h]put my seal on this fruit of theirs, I will (W)go on by way of you to Spain. 29 I know that when (X)I come to you, I will come in the fullness of the blessing of Christ.

30 Now I urge you, brothers and sisters, by our Lord Jesus Christ and by (Y)the love of the Spirit, to (Z)strive together with me in your prayers to God for me, 31 that I may be (AA)rescued from those who are disobedient in Judea, and that my (AB)service for Jerusalem may prove acceptable to the [i](AC)saints; 32 so that (AD)I may come to you in joy by (AE)the will of God and relax in your company. 33 Now (AF)the God of peace be with you all. Amen.

17 Therefore I glory in Christ Jesus(A) in my service to God.(B) 18 I will not venture to speak of anything except what Christ has accomplished through me in leading the Gentiles(C) to obey God(D) by what I have said and done— 19 by the power of signs and wonders,(E) through the power of the Spirit of God.(F) So from Jerusalem(G) all the way around to Illyricum, I have fully proclaimed the gospel of Christ.(H) 20 It has always been my ambition to preach the gospel(I) where Christ was not known, so that I would not be building on someone else’s foundation.(J) 21 Rather, as it is written:

“Those who were not told about him will see,
and those who have not heard will understand.”[a](K)

22 This is why I have often been hindered from coming to you.(L)

Paul’s Plan to Visit Rome

23 But now that there is no more place for me to work in these regions, and since I have been longing for many years to visit you,(M) 24 I plan to do so when I go to Spain.(N) I hope to see you while passing through and to have you assist(O) me on my journey there, after I have enjoyed your company for a while. 25 Now, however, I am on my way to Jerusalem(P) in the service(Q) of the Lord’s people(R) there. 26 For Macedonia(S) and Achaia(T) were pleased to make a contribution for the poor among the Lord’s people in Jerusalem.(U) 27 They were pleased to do it, and indeed they owe it to them. For if the Gentiles have shared in the Jews’ spiritual blessings, they owe it to the Jews to share with them their material blessings.(V) 28 So after I have completed this task and have made sure that they have received this contribution, I will go to Spain(W) and visit you on the way. 29 I know that when I come to you,(X) I will come in the full measure of the blessing of Christ.

30 I urge you, brothers and sisters, by our Lord Jesus Christ and by the love of the Spirit,(Y) to join me in my struggle by praying to God for me.(Z) 31 Pray that I may be kept safe(AA) from the unbelievers in Judea and that the contribution(AB) I take to Jerusalem may be favorably received by the Lord’s people(AC) there, 32 so that I may come to you(AD) with joy, by God’s will,(AE) and in your company be refreshed.(AF) 33 The God of peace(AG) be with you all. Amen.
