22 So whatever you believe about these things keep between yourself and God. Blessed is the one who does not condemn(A) himself by what he approves. 23 But whoever has doubts(B) is condemned if they eat, because their eating is not from faith; and everything that does not come from faith is sin.[a]

15 We who are strong ought to bear with the failings of the weak(C) and not to please ourselves. Each of us should please our neighbors for their good,(D) to build them up.(E) For even Christ did not please himself(F) but, as it is written: “The insults of those who insult you have fallen on me.”[b](G) For everything that was written in the past was written to teach us,(H) so that through the endurance taught in the Scriptures and the encouragement they provide we might have hope.

May the God who gives endurance and encouragement give you the same attitude of mind(I) toward each other that Christ Jesus had, so that with one mind and one voice you may glorify(J) the God and Father(K) of our Lord Jesus Christ.

Footnotes

  1. Romans 14:23 Some manuscripts place 16:25-27 here; others after 15:33.
  2. Romans 15:3 Psalm 69:9

22 Hast thou faith? have it to thyself before God. Happy is he that condemneth not himself in that thing which he alloweth.

23 And he that doubteth is damned if he eat, because he eateth not of faith: for whatsoever is not of faith is sin.

15 We then that are strong ought to bear the infirmities of the weak, and not to please ourselves.

Let every one of us please his neighbour for his good to edification.

For even Christ pleased not himself; but, as it is written, The reproaches of them that reproached thee fell on me.

For whatsoever things were written aforetime were written for our learning, that we through patience and comfort of the scriptures might have hope.

Now the God of patience and consolation grant you to be likeminded one toward another according to Christ Jesus:

That ye may with one mind and one mouth glorify God, even the Father of our Lord Jesus Christ.
