19 Never take your own revenge, loved ones, but give room for God’s wrath—for it is written, “Vengeance is Mine; I will repay,”[a] says Adonai. 20 Rather, “If your enemy is hungry, feed him; if he is thirsty, give him a drink. For by doing so you will heap coals of fire upon his head.” [b] 21 Do not be overcome by evil, but overcome evil with good.

19 Do not take revenge,(A) my dear friends, but leave room for God’s wrath, for it is written: “It is mine to avenge; I will repay,”[a](B) says the Lord. 20 On the contrary:
“If your enemy is hungry, feed him;
if he is thirsty, give him something to drink.
In doing this, you will heap burning coals on his head.”[b](C)
21 Do not be overcome by evil, but overcome evil with good.
