19 Do not take revenge, dear friends, but leave room for God’s[a] wrath. For it is written, “Vengeance belongs to me. I will pay them back, declares the Lord.”[b] 20 But “if your enemy is hungry, feed him. For if he is thirsty, give him a drink. If you do this, you will pile burning coals on his head.”[c] 21 Do not be conquered by evil, but conquer evil with good.

19 Do not take revenge,(A) my dear friends, but leave room for God’s wrath, for it is written: “It is mine to avenge; I will repay,”[a](B) says the Lord. 20 On the contrary:
“If your enemy is hungry, feed him;
if he is thirsty, give him something to drink.
In doing this, you will heap burning coals on his head.”[b](C)
21 Do not be overcome by evil, but overcome evil with good.
