New Revised Standard Version Updated Edition
18 If it is possible, so far as it depends on you, live peaceably with all.(A) 19 Beloved, never avenge yourselves, but leave room for the wrath of God,[a] for it is written, “Vengeance is mine; I will repay, says the Lord.”(B) 20 Instead, “if your enemies are hungry, feed them; if they are thirsty, give them something to drink, for by doing this you will heap burning coals on their heads.” 21 Do not be overcome by evil, but overcome evil with good.

An Urgent Appeal
11 Besides this, you know what time it is, how it is already the moment for you to wake from sleep. For salvation is nearer to us now than when we became believers;(A) 12 the night is far gone; the day is near. Let us then throw off[a] the works of darkness and put on the armor of light;(B) 13 let us walk decently as in the day, not in reveling and drunkenness, not in illicit sex and licentiousness, not in quarreling and jealousy.(C) 14 Instead, put on the Lord Jesus Christ, and make no provision for the flesh, to gratify its desires.(D)

The Day Is Near
11 And do this, understanding the present time: The hour has already come(A) for you to wake up from your slumber,(B) because our salvation is nearer now than when we first believed. 12 The night is nearly over; the day is almost here.(C) So let us put aside the deeds of darkness(D) and put on the armor(E) of light. 13 Let us behave decently, as in the daytime, not in carousing and drunkenness,(F) not in sexual immorality and debauchery, not in dissension and jealousy.(G) 14 Rather, clothe yourselves with the Lord Jesus Christ,(H) and do not think about how to gratify the desires of the flesh.[a](I)
