Morto para o pecado mas vivo para Deus
6 Que diremos então? Vamos continuar a pecar para que a graça de Deus aumente ainda mais? 2 De maneira nenhuma! Nós já morremos para o pecado. Como poderemos continuar ainda vivendo nele? 3 Ou vocês já se esqueceram de que nós, que fomos batizados para ser parte de Cristo, fomos também batizados para tomar parte em sua morte? 4 Assim, quando fomos batizados, morremos com Cristo e fomos sepultados com ele. Fomos sepultados com ele para que, como ele ressuscitou dos mortos pelo poder glorioso do Pai, nós também possamos viver uma vida nova.
5 Porque, se nós fomos unidos com Cristo, morrendo como ele morreu, seremos também unidos com ele quando ressuscitarmos dos mortos como ele ressuscitou. 6 Sabemos que a nossa maneira antiga de viver morreu com Cristo na cruz, para que a nossa natureza pecadora não tenha mais poder sobre nós e, assim, não sejamos mais escravos do pecado. 7 Qualquer pessoa que tenha morrido com Cristo está livre do controle do pecado.
8 Já que morremos com Cristo, sabemos que também viveremos com ele. 9 Cristo ressuscitou dos mortos e não pode morrer outra vez. Vocês não devem ser governados por aquilo que a sua natureza pecadora quer que façam. 13 Não ofereçam as partes do seu corpo para servir o pecado e nem usem o seu corpo para fazer o mal. Ao contrário, ofereçam esse corpo para o serviço de Deus, para fazer o bem. Sejam como pessoas que morreram e agora vivem uma vida nova. 14 O pecado não será senhor de vocês, pois vocês não estão debaixo da lei, mas debaixo da graça de Deus.
Escravos do bem
15 Então o que devemos fazer? Devemos pecar porque vivemos debaixo da graça de Deus e não da lei? De maneira nenhuma! 16 Vocês sabem muito bem que, quando vocês se entregam a qualquer coisa, são escravos dela e têm que obedecer a ela. Vocês podem se entregar ao pecado, e assim morrer, ou podem entregar-se à obediência, e serem declarados justos diante de Deus. 17 No passado, vocês eram escravos do pecado, mas, graças a Deus, vocês obedeceram de coração às verdades que estão nos ensinos que receberam. 18 Vocês foram libertados do pecado e agora são escravos do bem. 19 Falo em termos humanos porque é difícil para vocês entenderem. Antigamente vocês ofereciam as partes dos seus corpos para serem escravos do mal, vivendo só para o pecado. Agora, da mesma maneira, ofereçam as partes dos seus corpos para serem escravos do bem, vivendo só para Deus.
20 Porque, quando vocês eram escravos do pecado, o bem não os controlava. 21 E que resultados vocês tiveram naquele tempo? Somente coisas das quais vocês agora se envergonham. New English Translation
The Believer’s Freedom from Sin’s Domination
6 What shall we say then? Are we to remain in sin so that grace may increase? 2 Absolutely not! How can we who died to sin still live in it? 3 Or do you not know that as many as were baptized into Christ Jesus were baptized into his death? 4 Therefore we have been buried with him through baptism into death, in order that just as Christ was raised from the dead through the glory of the Father, so we too may live a new life.[a]
5 For if we have become united with him in the likeness of his death, we will certainly also be united in the likeness of his resurrection.[b] 6 We know that[c] our old man was crucified with him so that the body of sin would no longer dominate us,[d] so that we would no longer be enslaved to sin. 7 (For someone who has died has been freed from sin.)[e]
8 Now if we died with Christ, we believe that we will also live with him. 9 We know[f] that since Christ has been raised from the dead, he is never going to die[g] again; death no longer has mastery over him. 10 For the death he died, he died to sin once for all, but the life he lives, he lives to God. 11 So you too consider yourselves[h] dead to sin, but[i] alive to God in Christ Jesus.
12 Therefore do not let sin reign in your mortal body so that you obey its desires, 13 and do not present your members to sin as instruments[j] to be used for unrighteousness,[k] but present yourselves to God as those who are alive from the dead and your members to God as instruments[l] to be used for righteousness. 14 For sin will have no mastery over you, because you are not under law but under grace.
The Believer’s Enslavement to God’s Righteousness
15 What then? Shall we sin because we are not under law but under grace? Absolutely not! 16 Do you not know that if you present yourselves[m] as obedient slaves,[n] you are slaves of the one you obey, either of sin resulting in death, or obedience resulting in righteousness?[o] 17 But thanks be to God that though you were slaves to sin, you obeyed[p] from the heart that pattern[q] of teaching you were entrusted to, 18 and having been freed from sin, you became enslaved to righteousness. 19 (I am speaking in human terms because of the weakness of your flesh.)[r] For just as you once presented your members as slaves to impurity and lawlessness leading to more lawlessness, so now present your members as slaves to righteousness leading to sanctification. 20 For when you were slaves of sin, you were free with regard to righteousness.
21 So what benefit[s] did you then reap[t] from those things that you are now ashamed of? For the end of those things is death. 22 But now, freed[u] from sin and enslaved to God, you have your benefit[v] leading to sanctification, and the end is eternal life. 23 For the payoff[w] of sin is death, but the gift of God is eternal life in Christ Jesus our Lord.

- Romans 6:11 tc ‡ Some Alexandrian and Byzantine mss (P94vid א* B C 81 365 1506 1739 1881) have the infinitive “to be” (εἶναι, einai) following “yourselves”. The infinitive is lacking from some mss of the Alexandrian and Western textual clusters (P46vid A D*,c F G 33). The infinitive is found elsewhere in the majority of Byzantine mss, suggesting a scribal tendency toward clarification. The lack of infinitive best explains the rise of the other readings. The meaning of the passage is not significantly altered by inclusion or omission, but on internal grounds omission is more likely. NA28 includes the infinitive in brackets, indicating doubt as to its authenticity.

12 Niech więc grzech nie panuje w waszym śmiertelnym ciele i nie podporządkowuje was swoim żądzom. 13 Nie udostępniajcie mu też swoich członków jako narzędzi nieprawości. Oddawajcie siebie raczej Bogu, jako ożywieni z martwych. Jemu oddawajcie swe członki, niech służą za oręż sprawiedliwości. 14 Grzech bowiem nie będzie nad wami panował, gdyż nie jesteście już pod Prawem, lecz pod łaską.
Współukrzyżowanie w praktyce
15 Cóż zatem? Czy mamy grzeszyć, dlatego, że nie jesteśmy już pod Prawem, lecz pod łaską? W żadnym razie! 16 Czy nie wiecie, że jeśli posłusznie oddajecie się w niewolę, to stajecie się niewolnikami tego, kto przejmuje nad wami władzę? Jeśli to będzie grzech, to skutkiem będzie śmierć. Jeśli posłuszeństwo — to końcem sprawiedliwość. 17 Lecz Bogu niech będą dzięki, że gdy jeszcze byliście niewolnikami grzechu, całym sercem poszliście za tego rodzaju nauką, z którą was też zapoznano, 18 i wyzwoleni od grzechu, staliście się niewolnikami sprawiedliwości.
19 Pozwólcie, że użyję przykładu z życia, ze względu na słabość waszego ciała. Otóż jak oddawaliście wasze członki w niewolę nieczystości i bezprawia dla jego popełniania, tak teraz oddawajcie wasze członki w niewolę sprawiedliwości — dla uświęcenia.
20 Bo gdy służyliście w niewoli grzechu, byliście wolni od sprawiedliwości. 21 I jakie wówczas mieliście korzyści? Takie, których się teraz wstydzicie, a których końcem jest śmierć. 22 Teraz natomiast, wyzwoleni od grzechu, a oddani w niewolę Bogu, macie korzyść służącą uświęceniu, a końcem jest życie wieczne. 23 Gdyż zapłatą za grzech jest śmierć, lecz darem Bożej łaski jest życie wieczne w Chrystusie Jezusie, naszym Panu.
