2 Dios no ha rechazado al pueblo que él mismo escogió desde el principio. ¿Recuerdan lo que dicen las Escrituras en cuanto a Elías?
3 Él se quejaba ante Dios así:
«Dios Todopoderoso; me duele ver cómo el pueblo de Israel ha quebrantado el pacto contigo, ha derribado tus altares, ha dado muerte a tus profetas. ¡Sólo yo he quedado, y ahora están tratando de matarme a mí también!».
4 ¿Recuerdan lo que le respondió Dios?
«¡Tienes que saber que aún quedan siete mil hombres en Israel que jamás se han inclinado ante Baal ni lo han adorado!».

2 God did not reject his people,(A) whom he foreknew.(B) Don’t you know what Scripture says in the passage about Elijah—how he appealed to God against Israel: 3 “Lord, they have killed your prophets and torn down your altars; I am the only one left, and they are trying to kill me”[a]?(C) 4 And what was God’s answer to him? “I have reserved for myself seven thousand who have not bowed the knee to Baal.”[b](D)
