Pamumuhay ayon sa Espiritu
8 Ngayon nga'y wala nang kahatulan sa mga na kay Cristo Jesus.
2 Sapagkat ang kautusan ng Espiritu ng buhay na na kay Cristo Jesus ay nagpalaya sa atin[a] mula sa kautusan ng kasalanan at ng kamatayan.
3 Sapagkat ang hindi magawa ng kautusan, yamang ito ay pinahina ng laman, ay ginawa ng Diyos sa pagsusugo sa kanyang sariling Anak sa anyo ng makasalanang laman, at tungkol sa kasalanan ay hinatulan niya ang kasalanan sa laman,
4 upang ang makatuwirang itinatakda ng kautusan ay matupad sa atin, na hindi lumalakad ayon sa laman, kundi ayon sa Espiritu.
5 Sapagkat ang mga ayon sa laman ay nagtutuon ng kanilang isipan sa mga bagay ng laman; subalit ang mga ayon sa Espiritu ay sa mga bagay ng Espiritu.
6 Sapagkat ang kaisipan ng laman ay kamatayan; subalit ang kaisipan ng Espiritu ay buhay at kapayapaan.
7 Sapagkat ang kaisipan ng laman ay pagkapoot laban sa Diyos; sapagkat hindi ito napapasakop sa kautusan ng Diyos, ni hindi nga maaari;
8 at ang mga nasa laman ay hindi makapagbibigay-lugod sa Diyos.
9 Ngunit kayo'y wala sa laman, kundi nasa Espiritu, yamang nananatili sa inyo ang Espiritu ng Diyos. Subalit kung ang sinuma'y walang Espiritu ni Cristo, siya'y hindi sa kanya.
10 At kung si Cristo ay nasa sa inyo, ang katawan ay patay dahil sa kasalanan; ngunit ang espiritu ay buháy dahil sa katuwiran.
11 Ngunit(A) kung ang Espiritu niyaong bumuhay na muli kay Jesus ay nananatili sa inyo, siya na bumuhay na muli kay Cristo[b] mula sa mga patay ay magbibigay ng buhay sa inyong mga katawang may kamatayan, sa pamamagitan ng kanyang Espiritu na naninirahan sa inyo.
12 Kaya nga, mga kapatid, mga may utang tayo, hindi sa laman, upang mamuhay ayon sa laman;
13 sapagkat kung mamuhay kayo ayon sa laman, kayo ay mamamatay, subalit kung sa pamamagitan ng Espiritu ay pinapatay ninyo ang mga gawa ng laman, kayo ay mabubuhay.
14 Sapagkat ang lahat ng pinapatnubayan ng Espiritu ng Diyos ay sila ang mga anak ng Diyos.
15 Sapagkat(B) (C) hindi kayo tumanggap ng espiritu ng pagkaalipin upang muling matakot, kundi tumanggap kayo ng espiritu ng pagkukupkop, na dahil dito'y tumatawag tayo, “Abba![c] Ama!”
16 Ang Espiritu mismo ang nagpapatotoo kasama ng ating espiritu na tayo'y mga anak ng Diyos.
17 At kung mga anak, ay mga tagapagmana rin, mga tagapagmana ng Diyos, at mga kasamang tagapagmana ni Cristo; kung tunay ngang nagtitiis tayong kasama niya, upang tayo'y luwalhatiin namang kasama niya.
Ang Kaluwalhatiang Mapapasaatin
18 Itinuturing ko na ang pagtitiis sa panahong kasalukuyan ay hindi karapat-dapat maihambing sa kaluwalhatiang mahahayag sa atin.
19 Sapagkat ang masidhing inaasam ng sangnilikha ay ang inaasahang paghahayag ng mga anak ng Diyos.
20 Sapagkat(D) ang sangnilikha ay nasakop ng kawalang kabuluhan, hindi sa kanyang kalooban, kundi dahil doon sa sumakop sa kanya, sa pag-asa
21 na ang sangnilikha naman ay mapapalaya mula sa pagkaalipin sa kabulukan tungo sa kalayaan ng kaluwalhatian ng mga anak ng Diyos.
22 Sapagkat nalalaman natin na ang buong sangnilikha ay sama-samang dumaraing at naghihirap sa pagdaramdam hanggang ngayon.
23 At(E) hindi lamang sangnilikha, kundi pati naman tayo na mayroong mga unang bunga ng Espiritu, na tayo nama'y dumaraing din sa ating mga sarili, sa masidhing paghihintay ng pagkukupkop, ang pagtubos sa ating katawan.
24 Sapagkat tayo'y iniligtas sa pamamagitan ng pag-asang ito, ngunit ang pag-asang nakikita ay hindi pag-asa, sapagkat sino nga ang umaasa sa nakikita?
25 Subalit kung umaasa tayo sa hindi natin nakikita, hinihintay natin itong may pagtitiis.
26 At gayundin naman, ang Espiritu ay tumutulong sa ating kahinaan; sapagkat hindi tayo marunong manalangin nang nararapat; ngunit ang Espiritu mismo ang namamagitan[d] na may mga daing na hindi maipahayag;
27 ngunit ang Diyos na sumisiyasat ng mga puso ay nakakaalam kung ano ang kaisipan ng Espiritu, sapagkat siya ang namamagitan dahil sa mga banal ayon sa kalooban ng Diyos.
28 At nalalaman natin na sa lahat ng mga bagay ang Diyos ay gumagawa sa ikabubuti ng mga umiibig sa kanya, sa kanila na mga tinawag alinsunod sa kanyang layunin.
29 Sapagkat ang mga nakilala niya nang una pa ay itinalaga naman niya na maging katulad sa larawan ng kanyang Anak, upang siya ang maging panganay sa maraming magkakapatid;
30 at yaong mga itinalaga niya ay kanya namang tinawag at ang mga tinawag niya ay itinuring niyang ganap; at ang mga itinuring na ganap ay niluwalhati din naman niya.
Ang Pag-ibig ng Diyos
31 Ano nga ang ating sasabihin sa mga bagay na ito? Kung ang Diyos ay kakampi natin, sino ang laban sa atin?
32 Siya na hindi ipinagkait ang kanyang sariling Anak, kundi ibinigay dahil sa ating lahat, bakit naman hindi ibibigay sa atin nang walang bayad ang lahat ng mga bagay?
33 Sino ang magsasakdal ng anuman laban sa mga pinili ng Diyos? Ang Diyos ang siyang umaaring-ganap.
34 Sino ang hahatol? Si Cristo Jesus na namatay, oo, siyang muling binuhay mula sa mga patay, na siya ring nasa kanan ng Diyos, na siya ring namamagitan para sa atin.
35 Sino ang makapaghihiwalay sa atin sa pag-ibig ni Cristo? Ang kahirapan ba, o ang kapighatian, o ang pag-uusig, o ang taggutom, o ang kahubaran, o ang panganib, o ang tabak?
36 Gaya(F) ng nasusulat,
“Dahil sa iyo kami'y pinapatay sa buong araw;
kami ay itinuring na mga tupa sa katayan.”
37 Ngunit sa lahat ng mga bagay na ito, tayo'y higit pa sa mga nagtatagumpay sa pamamagitan niya na sa atin ay umibig.
38 Sapagkat ako'y naniniwalang lubos, na kahit ang kamatayan man, ni ang buhay, ni ang mga anghel, ni ang mga pinuno, ni ang mga bagay na kasalukuyan, ni ang mga bagay na darating, ni ang mga kapangyarihan,
39 ni ang kataasan, ni ang kalaliman, ni ang alin pa mang nilalang, ay hindi makapaghihiwalay sa atin sa pag-ibig ng Diyos, na na kay Cristo Jesus na Panginoon natin.

B. La vita del cristiano nello Spirito
La vita nello Spirito
8 Non c'è dunque più nessuna condanna per quelli che sono in Cristo Gesù. 2 Poiché la legge dello Spirito che dà vita in Cristo Gesù ti ha liberato dalla legge del peccato e della morte. 3 Infatti ciò che era impossibile alla legge, perché la carne la rendeva impotente, Dio lo ha reso possibile: mandando il proprio Figlio in una carne simile a quella del peccato e in vista del peccato, egli ha condannato il peccato nella carne, 4 perché la giustizia della legge si adempisse in noi, che non camminiamo secondo la carne ma secondo lo Spirito.
5 Quelli infatti che vivono secondo la carne, pensano alle cose della carne; quelli invece che vivono secondo lo Spirito, alle cose dello Spirito. 6 Ma i desideri della carne portano alla morte, mentre i desideri dello Spirito portano alla vita e alla pace. 7 Infatti i desideri della carne sono in rivolta contro Dio, perché non si sottomettono alla sua legge e neanche lo potrebbero. 8 Quelli che vivono secondo la carne non possono piacere a Dio.
9 Voi però non siete sotto il dominio della carne, ma dello Spirito, dal momento che lo Spirito di Dio abita in voi. Se qualcuno non ha lo Spirito di Cristo, non gli appartiene. 10 E se Cristo è in voi, il vostro corpo è morto a causa del peccato, ma lo spirito è vita a causa della giustificazione. 11 E se lo Spirito di colui che ha risuscitato Gesù dai morti abita in voi, colui che ha risuscitato Cristo dai morti darà la vita anche ai vostri corpi mortali per mezzo del suo Spirito che abita in voi.
12 Così dunque fratelli, noi siamo debitori, ma non verso la carne per vivere secondo la carne; 13 poiché se vivete secondo la carne, voi morirete; se invece con l'aiuto dello Spirito voi fate morire le opere del corpo, vivrete.
Figli di Dio grazie allo Spirito
14 Tutti quelli infatti che sono guidati dallo Spirito di Dio, costoro sono figli di Dio. 15 E voi non avete ricevuto uno spirito da schiavi per ricadere nella paura, ma avete ricevuto uno spirito da figli adottivi per mezzo del quale gridiamo: «Abbà, Padre!». 16 Lo Spirito stesso attesta al nostro spirito che siamo figli di Dio. 17 E se siamo figli, siamo anche eredi: eredi di Dio, coeredi di Cristo, se veramente partecipiamo alle sue sofferenze per partecipare anche alla sua gloria.
Destinati alla gloria
18 Io ritengo, infatti, che le sofferenze del momento presente non sono paragonabili alla gloria futura che dovrà essere rivelata in noi.
19 La creazione stessa attende con impazienza la rivelazione dei figli di Dio; 20 essa infatti è stata sottomessa alla caducità - non per suo volere, ma per volere di colui che l'ha sottomessa - e nutre la speranza 21 di essere lei pure liberata dalla schiavitù della corruzione, per entrare nella libertà della gloria dei figli di Dio. 22 Sapppiamo bene infatti che tutta la creazione geme e soffre fino ad oggi nelle doglie del parto; 23 essa non è la sola, ma anche noi, che possediamo le primizie dello Spirito, gemiamo interiormente aspettando l'adozione a figli, la redenzione del nostro corpo. 24 Poiché nella speranza noi siamo stati salvati. Ora, ciò che si spera, se visto, non è più speranza; infatti, ciò che uno gia vede, come potrebbe ancora sperarlo? 25 Ma se speriamo quello che non vediamo, lo attendiamo con perseveranza.
26 Allo stesso modo anche lo Spirito viene in aiuto alla nostra debolezza, perché nemmeno sappiamo che cosa sia conveniente domandare, ma lo Spirito stesso intercede con insistenza per noi, con gemiti inesprimibili; 27 e colui che scruta i cuori sa quali sono i desideri dello Spirito, poiché egli intercede per i credenti secondo i disegni di Dio.
Il piano della salvezza
28 Del resto, noi sappiamo che tutto concorre al bene di coloro che amano Dio, che sono stati chiamati secondo il suo disegno. 29 Poiché quelli che egli da sempre ha conosciuto li ha anche predestinati ad essere conformi all'immagine del Figlio suo, perché egli sia il primogenito tra molti fratelli; 30 quelli poi che ha predestinati li ha anche chiamati; quelli che ha chiamati li ha anche giustificati; quelli che ha giustificati li ha anche glorificati.
Inno all'amore di Dio
31 Che diremo dunque in proposito? Se Dio è per noi, chi sarà contro di noi? 32 Egli che non ha risparmiato il proprio Figlio, ma lo ha dato per tutti noi, come non ci donerà ogni cosa insieme con lui? 33 Chi accuserà gli eletti di Dio? Dio giustifica. 34 Chi condannerà? Cristo Gesù, che è morto, anzi, che è risuscitato, sta alla destra di Dio e intercede per noi? 35 Chi ci separerà dunque dall'amore di Cristo? Forse la tribolazione, l'angoscia, la persecuzione, la fame, la nudità, il pericolo, la spada? 36 Proprio come sta scritto:
Per causa tua siamo messi a morte tutto il giorno,
siamo trattati come pecore da macello.
37 Ma in tutte queste cose noi siamo più che vincitori per virtù di colui che ci ha amati. 38 Io sono infatti persuaso che né morte né vita, né angeli né principati, né presente né avvenire, 39 né potenze, né altezza né profondità, né alcun'altra creatura potrà mai separarci dall'amore di Dio, in Cristo Gesù, nostro Signore.

8 ¶ So that now, there is no condemnation to those who are in Christ, Jesus, who walk not according to the flesh, but according to the Spirit.
2 For the law of the Spirit of life in Christ, Jesus, has made me free from the law of sin and death.
3 For that which was impossible to the law, in that it was weak through the flesh, God sending his own Son in the likeness of sinful flesh and for sin, condemned sin in the flesh
4 that the righteousness of the law might be fulfilled in us who walk not according to the flesh, but according to the Spirit.
5 For those that are according to the flesh know the things that are of the flesh; but those that are according to the Spirit, the things that are of the Spirit.
6 For the prudence of the flesh is death, but the prudence of the Spirit, life and peace,
7 because the prudence of the flesh is enmity against God; for it does not subject itself to the law of God, neither indeed can it.
8 So then, those that are carnal cannot please God.
9 But ye are not in the flesh, but in the Spirit, because the Spirit of God dwells in you. Now if anyone does not have the Spirit of Christ, that person is not of him.
10 ¶ But if Christ is in you, the body is truly dead because of sin, but the Spirit is alive because of righteousness.
11 And if the Spirit of him that raised up Jesus from the dead dwells in you, he that raised up the Christ from the dead shall also quicken your mortal bodies by his Spirit that dwells in you.
12 Therefore, brethren, we are debtors, not to the flesh, to live according to the flesh.
13 For if ye live according to the flesh, ye shall die; but if through the Spirit ye mortify the deeds of the body, ye shall live.
14 For all that are led by the Spirit of God, the same are sons of God.
15 For ye have not received the spirit of slavery to be in fear again, but ye have received the Spirit of adoption of sons, whereby we cry, Abba, Father.
16 For the same Spirit bears witness unto our spirit that we are sons of God,
17 ¶ and if sons, also heirs certainly of God and joint-heirs with Christ, if so be that we suffer with him that we may be also glorified together with him.
18 For I know with certainty that the sufferings of this present time are not worthy to be compared with the coming glory which shall be manifested in us.
19 For the earnest hope of the creatures waits for the manifestation of the sons of God.
20 For the creatures were subjected to vanity, not willingly, but by reason of him who has subjected them,
21 with the hope that the same creatures shall be delivered from the slavery of corruption into the glorious liberty of the sons of God.
22 For we now know that all the creatures groan together and travail in pain together until now.
23 And not only they, but ourselves also who have the firstfruits of the Spirit, even we ourselves groan within ourselves, waiting for the adoption, that is to say, the redemption of our body.
24 For in hope we are saved, but hope that is seen is not hope; for what a man sees, he does not wait for.
25 But if we wait for that which we do not see, with patience we wait for it.
26 ¶ And likewise also the Spirit helps our weakness; for we know not how to pray as we ought, but the Spirit itself makes entreaty for us with groanings which cannot be uttered.
27 But he that searches the hearts knows what is the desire of the Spirit, that according to the will of God, he makes entreaty for the saints.
28 And we now know that unto those who love God, all things help them unto good, to those who according to the purpose are called to be saints.
29 ¶ For unto those who he knew beforehand, he also marked out beforehand the way that they might be conformed to the image of his Son, that he might be the firstborn among many brethren.
30 And unto those whom he did mark out beforehand the way, to these he also called; and to whom he called, these he also justified; and to whom he justified, these he also glorified.
31 ¶ What shall we then say to these things? If God is for us, who shall be against us?
32 He that did not spare his own Son, but delivered him up for us all, how shall he not also give us all things with him?
33 Who shall accuse the chosen of God’s? God is he that justifies them.
34 Who is he that condemns them? Christ, Jesus, is he who died and, even more, he that also rose again, who furthermore is at the right hand of God, who also makes entreaty for us.
35 Who shall separate us from the charity of Christ? shall tribulation or distress or persecution or famine or nakedness or peril or sword?
36 (As it is written, For thy sake we are killed all the day long; we are accounted as sheep for the slaughter.)
37 Nevertheless, in all these things we are more than conquerors through him that loved us.
38 Therefore I am certain that neither death nor life nor angels nor principalities nor powers nor things present nor things to come
39 nor height nor depth nor any creature shall be able to separate us from the charity of God, which is in Christ, Jesus our Lord.
