Ang Bagong Buhay kay Cristo

6 Ano ngayon ang masasabi natin? Magpapatuloy ba tayo sa kasalanan para lalong madagdagan ang biyaya ng Dios sa atin? 2 Aba, hindi maaari! Hindi maaari na magpatuloy pa tayo sa pagkakasala dahil ang kasalanan ay wala ng kapangyarihan sa atin. 3 Hindi ba ninyo alam na noong binautismuhan tayo kay Jesu-Cristo, nangangahulugan ito na kasama tayo sa kanyang kamatayan? 4 Kaya noong binautismuhan tayo, namatay tayo at inilibing na kasama niya. Kung paanong binuhay muli si Cristo sa pamamagitan ng dakilang kapangyarihan ng Ama, tayo rin ay mamuhay sa bagong buhay.

5 At kung nakasama tayo sa kanyang kamatayan, tiyak na mabubuhay tayong muli[a] tulad ng muli niyang pagkabuhay. 6 Alam natin na ang dati nating pagkatao ay ipinako na sa krus kasama ni Cristo para mamatay, kaya hindi na tayo dapat alipinin pa ng kasalanan. 7 Sapagkat ang taong patay na ay malaya na sa kasalanan. 8 At kung namatay tayong kasama ni Cristo, naniniwala tayong mabubuhay din tayong kasama niya. 9 Sapagkat alam nating si Cristoʼy muling nabuhay at hindi na muling mamamatay. Wala nang kapangyarihan sa kanya ang kamatayan. 10 Minsan lang siyang namatay para sa kasalanan ng mga tao; at nabubuhay siya ngayon para sa Dios. 11 At dahil nakay Cristo Jesus na kayo, ituring ninyo ang inyong mga sarili na patay na sa kasalanan at nabubuhay na para sa Dios. 12 Huwag na ninyong paghariin ang kasalanan sa inyong katawang may kamatayan, para hindi na ninyo sundin ang masasamang hilig nito. 13 Huwag na ninyong gamitin ang alin mang bahagi ng inyong katawan sa paggawa ng kasalanan. Sa halip, ialay ninyo ang inyong sarili sa Dios bilang mga taong binigyan ng bagong buhay. Ilaan ninyo sa Dios ang inyong katawan sa paggawa ng kabutihan. 14 Sapagkat hindi na dapat maghari pa sa inyo ang kasalanan, dahil wala na kayo sa ilalim ng Kautusan kundi sa ilalim na ng biyaya ng Dios.

Mga Alipin ng Katuwiran

15 Ngayon, dahil wala na tayo sa ilalim ng Kautusan kundi sa biyaya na ng Dios, nangangahulugan bang magpapatuloy pa rin tayo sa paggawa ng kasalanan? Aba, hindi! 16 Hindi nʼyo ba alam na alipin tayo ng anumang sinusunod natin? Kaya kung sinusunod natin ang kasalanan, alipin tayo ng kasalanan at ang dulot nitoʼy kamatayan. Pero kung sumusunod tayo sa Dios, mga alipin tayo ng Dios at ang dulot nitoʼy katuwiran. 17 Noong una, alipin kayo ng kasalanan. Pero salamat sa Dios dahil ngayon, buong puso ninyong sinusunod ang mga aral na itinuro sa inyo. 18 Pinalaya na kayo sa kasalanan at ngayoʼy mga alipin na kayo ng katuwiran.

19 Ginagamit ko bilang halimbawa ang tungkol sa mga alipin para madali ninyong maunawaan ang ibig kong sabihin. Noong unaʼy nagpaalipin kayo sa karumihan at kasamaan, at naging masama nga kayo. Ngayon namaʼy magpaalipin kayo sa kabutihan para maging banal kayo. 20 Noong alipin pa kayo ng kasalanan, wala kayong pakialam sa matuwid na pamumuhay. 21 Ano nga ba ang napala ninyo sa dati ninyong pamumuhay na ikinakahiya na ninyo ngayon? Ang dulot ng mga iyon ay kamatayan. 22 Pero pinalaya na kayo sa kasalanan at alipin na kayo ng Dios. At ang dulot nitoʼy kabanalan at buhay na walang hanggan. 23 Sapagkat ang kabayaran ng kasalanan ay kamatayan, ngunit ang kaloob ng Dios ay buhay na walang hanggan sa pamamagitan ni Cristo Jesus na ating Panginoon.

Für die Sünde tot - für Gott lebendig in Christus

6 Was wollen wir nun sagen? Sollen wir in der Sünde verharren, damit das Maß der Gnade voll werde? 2 Das sei ferne! Wie sollten wir, die wir der Sünde gestorben sind, noch in ihr leben? 3 Oder wisset ihr nicht, daß wir alle, die wir auf[a] Jesus Christus getauft sind, auf seinen Tod getauft sind? 4 Wir sind also mit ihm begraben worden durch die Taufe auf den Tod, auf daß, gleichwie Christus durch die Herrlichkeit des Vaters von den Toten auferweckt worden ist, so auch wir in einem neuen Leben wandeln.

5 Denn wenn wir mit ihm verwachsen sind zur Ähnlichkeit seines Todes, so werden wir es auch zu der seiner Auferstehung sein, 6 wissen wir doch, daß unser alter Mensch mitgekreuzigt worden ist, damit der Leib der Sünde außer Wirksamkeit gesetzt sei, so daß wir der Sünde nicht mehr dienen; 7 denn wer gestorben ist, der ist von der Sünde losgesprochen.

8 Sind wir aber mit Christus gestorben, so glauben wir, daß wir auch mit ihm leben werden, 9 da wir wissen, daß Christus, von den Toten erweckt, nicht mehr stirbt; der Tod herrscht nicht mehr über ihn; 10 denn was er gestorben ist, das ist er der Sünde gestorben, ein für allemal; was er aber lebt, das lebt er für Gott.

11 Also auch ihr: Haltet euch selbst dafür, daß ihr für die Sünde tot seid, aber für Gott lebet in Christus Jesus, unsrem Herrn! 12 So soll nun die Sünde nicht herrschen in eurem sterblichen Leibe, so daß ihr seinen Lüsten gehorchet; 13 gebet auch nicht eure Glieder der Sünde hin, als Waffen der Ungerechtigkeit, sondern gebet euch selbst Gott hin, als solche, die aus Toten lebendig geworden sind, und eure Glieder Gott, als Waffen der Gerechtigkeit.

14 Denn die Sünde wird nicht herrschen über euch, weil ihr nicht unter dem Gesetz, sondern unter der Gnade seid.

Der Gerechtigkeit dienstbar geworden

15 Wie nun, sollen wir sündigen, weil wir nicht unter dem Gesetz, sondern unter der Gnade sind? Das sei ferne! 16 Wisset ihr nicht: wem ihr euch als Knechte hingebet, ihm zu gehorchen, dessen Knechte seid ihr und müßt ihm gehorchen, es sei der Sünde zum Tode, oder dem Gehorsam zur Gerechtigkeit? 17 Gott aber sei Dank, daß ihr Knechte der Sünde gewesen, nun aber von Herzen gehorsam geworden seid dem Vorbild der Lehre, dem ihr euch übergeben habt. 18 Nachdem ihr aber von der Sünde befreit wurdet, seid ihr der Gerechtigkeit dienstbar geworden.

19 Ich muß menschlich davon reden wegen der Schwachheit eures Fleisches. Gleichwie ihr eure Glieder in den Dienst der Unreinigkeit und der Gesetzwidrigkeit gestellt habt, um gesetzwidrig zu handeln, so stellet nun eure Glieder in den Dienst der Gerechtigkeit zur Heiligung. 20 Denn als ihr Knechte der Sünde waret, da waret ihr frei gegenüber der Gerechtigkeit. 21 Was hattet ihr nun damals für Frucht? Solche, deren ihr euch jetzt schämet; denn das Ende derselben ist der Tod. 22 Nun aber, da ihr von der Sünde frei und Gott dienstbar geworden seid, habt ihr als eure Frucht die Heiligung, als Ende aber das ewige Leben. 23 Denn der Tod ist der Sünde Sold; aber die Gnadengabe Gottes ist das ewige Leben in Christus Jesus, unsrem Herrn.

Dead to Sin, Alive in Christ

6 What shall we say, then?(A) Shall we go on sinning so that grace may increase?(B) 2 By no means! We are those who have died to sin;(C) how can we live in it any longer? 3 Or don’t you know that all of us who were baptized(D) into Christ Jesus were baptized into his death? 4 We were therefore buried with him through baptism into death(E) in order that, just as Christ was raised from the dead(F) through the glory of the Father, we too may live a new life.(G)

5 For if we have been united with him in a death like his, we will certainly also be united with him in a resurrection like his.(H) 6 For we know that our old self(I) was crucified with him(J) so that the body ruled by sin(K) might be done away with,[a] that we should no longer be slaves to sin(L)— 7 because anyone who has died has been set free from sin.(M)

8 Now if we died with Christ, we believe that we will also live with him.(N) 9 For we know that since Christ was raised from the dead,(O) he cannot die again; death no longer has mastery over him.(P) 10 The death he died, he died to sin(Q) once for all;(R) but the life he lives, he lives to God.

11 In the same way, count yourselves dead to sin(S) but alive to God in Christ Jesus. 12 Therefore do not let sin reign(T) in your mortal body so that you obey its evil desires. 13 Do not offer any part of yourself to sin as an instrument of wickedness,(U) but rather offer yourselves to God as those who have been brought from death to life; and offer every part of yourself to him as an instrument of righteousness.(V) 14 For sin shall no longer be your master,(W) because you are not under the law,(X) but under grace.(Y)

Slaves to Righteousness

15 What then? Shall we sin because we are not under the law but under grace?(Z) By no means! 16 Don’t you know that when you offer yourselves to someone as obedient slaves, you are slaves of the one you obey(AA)—whether you are slaves to sin,(AB) which leads to death,(AC) or to obedience, which leads to righteousness? 17 But thanks be to God(AD) that, though you used to be slaves to sin,(AE) you have come to obey from your heart the pattern of teaching(AF) that has now claimed your allegiance. 18 You have been set free from sin(AG) and have become slaves to righteousness.(AH)

19 I am using an example from everyday life(AI) because of your human limitations. Just as you used to offer yourselves as slaves to impurity and to ever-increasing wickedness, so now offer yourselves as slaves to righteousness(AJ) leading to holiness. 20 When you were slaves to sin,(AK) you were free from the control of righteousness.(AL) 21 What benefit did you reap at that time from the things you are now ashamed of? Those things result in death!(AM) 22 But now that you have been set free from sin(AN) and have become slaves of God,(AO) the benefit you reap leads to holiness, and the result is eternal life.(AP) 23 For the wages of sin is death,(AQ) but the gift of God is eternal life(AR) in[b] Christ Jesus our Lord.
