Ano nga ang kalamangan ng Judio? O ano ang pakinabang sa pagtutuli?

Napakarami.

Huwag(A) nawang mangyari!

“Walang matuwid, wala, wala kahit isa;
11     wala ni isang nakakaunawa,
    wala ni isang humahanap sa Diyos.
12 Lahat ay lumihis, sama-sama silang nawalan ng kabuluhan;
    walang gumagawa ng mabuti,
    wala, wala kahit isa.”
13 “Ang(C) kanilang lalamunan ay isang libingang bukas;
    sa pamamagitan ng kanilang mga dila ay gumagawa sila ng pandaraya.”
15 “Ang(E) kanilang mga paa ay matutulin sa pagpapadanak ng dugo;

21 Subalit ngayon ay ipinahahayag ang pagiging matuwid ng Diyos na hiwalay sa kautusan at pinatotohanan ng kautusan at ng mga propeta;

Sapagkat walang pagkakaiba,

23 yamang ang lahat ay nagkasala, at hindi nakaabot sa kaluwalhatian ng Diyos;

24 sila ngayon ay itinuturing na ganap ng kanyang biyaya bilang kaloob sa pamamagitan ng pagtubos na na kay Cristo Jesus;

25 na siyang inialay ng Diyos bilang handog na pantubos sa pamamagitan ng kanyang dugo na mabisa sa pamamagitan ng pananampalataya. Ito ay kanyang ginawa upang maipakita ang pagiging matuwid ng Diyos, sapagkat sa kanyang banal na pagtitiis ay kanyang pinalampas ang mga kasalanang nagawa sa nakaraan;

29 O ang Diyos ba ay Diyos ng mga Judio lamang? Hindi ba Diyos din siya ng mga Hentil? Oo, ng mga Hentil din naman;

Ano nga? tayo baga'y lalong mabuti kay sa kanila? Hindi, sa anomang paraan: sapagka't ating kapuwa isinasakdal na muna ang mga Judio at ang mga Griego, na silang lahat ay nangasa ilalim ng kasalanan;

10 Gaya ng nasusulat, Walang matuwid, wala, wala kahit isa;

11 Walang nakatatalastas, Walang humahanap sa Dios;

15 Ang kanilang mga paa ay matulin sa pagbububo ng dugo;

16 Kagibaan at kahirapan ang nasa kanilang mga daan;

17 At ang daan ng kapayapaan ay hindi nila nakilala;

21 Datapuwa't ngayon bukod sa kautusan ay ipinahahayag ang isang katuwiran ng Dios, na sinasaksihan ng kautusan at ng mga propeta;

22 Sa makatuwid baga'y ang katuwiran ng Dios sa pamamagitan ng pananampalataya kay Jesucristo sa lahat ng mga nagsisisampalataya; sapagka't walang pagkakaiba;

23 Sapagka't ang lahat ay nangagkasala nga, at hindi nangakaabot sa kaluwalhatian ng Dios;

25 Na siyang inilagay ng Dios na maging pangpalubagloob, sa pamamagitan ng pananampalataya, sa kaniyang dugo, upang maipakilala ang kaniyang katuwiran dahil sa hindi pagpansin sa mga kasalanan na nagawa nang nagdaang panahon sa pagpapahinuhod ng Dios;

What then is the advantage of the Yehudi? Or what is the value of the bris milah?

Much in every way! For, koidem kol (in the first place), they are entrusted with the Divrei Hashem (the oracles, the words of G-d).

So, where does that leave us? If some have disbelieved, has their lack of emunah annulled the ne’emanut (faithfulness, trustworthiness, reliability) of Hashem?

Chas v’shalom (G-d forbid!) Let G-d be true and KOL HAADAM KOZEV ("every man a liar" TEHILLIM 116:11). Even as it is written, L’MA’AN TITZDAK B’DAVRECHA ("in order that you might be vindicated when you speak" and shall overcome when you judge TEHILLIM 51:6[4]).

But if our unrighteousness brings out and highlights the Tzedek Olamim, the Tzidkat Hashem (the righteousness of G-d), what shall we say? Rhetorically speaking, is G-d unjust in inflicting Charon Af Hashem (1:18)? (I speak from a human standpoint.)

Chas v’shalom! (G-d forbid!) For then how could Hashem be HaShofet kol ha’Aretz (BERESHIS 18:25)?

"But if the Emes Hashem (truth of G-d) has by my sheker overflowed to His kavod (glory), why am I still judged as a rashah (an evildoer)?"

Why do we not say, as some speakers of lashon hora slanderously report us to say, "Let us do rah that tov might come of it"? The gezar din (verdict) of ashem (guilty) on them is well deserved.

What then? Are we (Yehudim) better off? Not altogether. For we have now charged both Yehudim and non-Jews as all alike under HaChet (sin, i.e., the power of Chet Kadmon Ro 7:23),

10 As it is written, EIN TZADDIK BA’ARETZ (KOHELET 7:20), There is none [on earth] righteous, not even one.

11 There is none who has binah, there is none who seeks out G-d.

12 All have turned aside, they have become altogether paskudneh, worthless; there is none who does good, there is none, not so much as one.

13 Their throat is an open grave. They use their tongues to deceive. The venom of asps is under their lips,

14 Whose mouth is full of curses and bitterness.

15 Their feet are swift when it comes to shefach dahm.

16 Ruin and wretchedness are in their ways,

17 And the derech Shalom (the way of peace) they have not known.

18 There is no yirat Shomayim (fear of G-d) before their eyes. (See TEHILLIM 13:1-3; 14:1-3; 5:9,10; 139:4; 140:3; 9:28; 10:7; YESHAYAH 59:7 8; TEHILLIM 36:1; MISHLE 1:16; TEHILLIM 35:2.)

19 Now we know that whatever the Torah says, it says to those under the Torah, in order that every mouth might be stopped and kol HaOlam Hazeh become ashem (guilty) and liable to the Mishpat Hashem [TEHILLIM 1:5].

20 For by Ma’asim (Works) of Chok (Law) shall KOL CHAI LO YITZDAK ("all living not be justified" TEHILLIM 143:2), for through the Chok (Law) comes the da’as HaChet (the knowledge of sin, BERESHIS 3:7).

21 But now, apart from the Chok, the Tzedek Olamim—the Tzidkat Hashem—has been revealed, as attested by the Torah and the Nevi’im,

22 That is, the Tzidkat Hashem through emunah in Moshiach Yehoshua (Yeshua) to all the ma’aminim (believers). For there is no distinction.

23 For all have sinned and suffered want of the kavod Hashem.

24 They are acquitted and accounted to be YITZDAK IM HASHEM as a matnat Hashem (gift of G-d) by the unmerited Chen v’Chesed Hashem (grace of G-d) through HaPedut (the ransom, the payment of ransom for the Geulah redemption—Shmuel Bais 7:23 that comes about through the Go’el Moshiach Tzidkeinu) which is in Rebbe, Melech HaMoshiach Yehoshua,

25 Whom G-d set forth as a kapporah (that which propitiates G-d’s wrath; cf the sa’ir l’azazel in Lv 16:22 and Isa 53:12 paying the onesh for sin) through emunah (faith) in the DAHM ("blood" Gen 22:7; Ex 12:3,6; Isa 53:7,10) of Moshiach, to demonstrate the Tzedek Olamim, the Tzidkat Hashem (righteousness of G-d) in pasach (passing over, letting go the penalty of) the averos (sins) committed in former times

26 In the forbearance of G-d, to vindicate his Tzidkat Hashem (righteousness of G-d) in the present time, that HASHEM TZADDIK ("G-d is righteous" DIVREY HAYAMIM BAIS 12:6) Himself and the One who counts to be YITZDAK IM HASHEM (IYOV 25:4) the person who has emunah (faith) and bitachon (trust) in [Rebbe, Melech HaMoshiach] Yehoshua.

27 Where then is boasting? (Ro 4:2) It has been memayet (precluded, excluded). By what kind of Torah? Of ma’asim (works)? No, on the contrary, by the Torah of Emunah (the Law of Faith, that is, the Law understood in terms of emunah).

28 For we reckon that a man is acquitted and pronounced to be YITZDAK IM HASHEM by emunah (personal faith, trust, bitachon), apart from the [(supposed) zechus-earning] ma’asei mitzvot.

29 Or is Hashem G-d of the Yehudim only? Is Hashem not also G-d of the Nations? Ken, of non-Jews, too,

30 Vi-bahlt (since), after all, Adonai echad ("G-d is one" DEVARIM 6:4). Therefore, He will consider to be YITZDAK IM HASHEM and acquit those of the bris milah on the ground of emunah and the "arelim" (uncircumcised ones) through that same emunah.

31 Does it follow that we abolish Torah and make it invalid through emunah? Chas v’shalom! Aderaba (to the contrary), we uphold the Torah.

So someone may ask, ‘Does it help a person if they are a Jew, rather than a Gentile? Does it help a person if someone has circumcised them?’ Yes, it helps in many ways. The first is that God chose to give his messages to the Jewish people. But you may say, ‘Some Jews did not believe God's messages as they should have done. Because of that, maybe God will not do what he said he would do.’ No, certainly it does not mean that! God will always do what he says. He will always say what is true, even if everyone in the world should tell lies. This is what is written in the Bible:

‘Your message is true. It shows that you are right.
People may say that you are wrong.
But it will always be clear that you are right.’[a]

Maybe some people may say, ‘The wrong things that we do show more clearly that God is always right. So perhaps God is wrong to punish us.’ That is not true! God always decides what is right and fair. That is why he is able to judge everyone in the world.

Someone might also say, ‘When I tell lies, that shows how great and good God is. My lies show more clearly that God always says what is true. So God should not say that I am a bad person. He should not punish me.’ But if that is true, you could also say, ‘We should do more and more bad things. Then something good will happen as a result.’ Some people even say that is the message which I teach. But if they say that, they are insulting me. It is right that God should punish those people.

Nobody is right with God

So then, what do we learn from that? We cannot say that we Jews are better than other people. No, certainly we cannot say that! I have said already that sin has power over everyone. That is true for both Jews and Gentiles. 10 This is written in the Bible:

‘There is nobody who is right with God.
There is not even one person who is like that.
11 There is nobody who understands what is true.
There is nobody who wants to worship God.
12 Everyone has turned away from God.
All people have become completely bad.
Nobody does what is good or kind.
There is not even one person who is like that.[b]

13 Bad words come out of their mouth, like a very bad smell.
They tell lies all the time,
so that people do wrong things.
The things that they say hurt people, like a snake's poison.[c]

14 They are always saying bad things against people,
because they want to cause trouble for them.[d]

15 They hurry to kill people.
16 Everywhere they go, they destroy things.
They only make people very sad.
17 They have never known how to live in peace.[e]

18 They refuse to respect God in any way.’[f]

19 So, we know that God's Law belongs to the Jews. God told them to obey everything that his Law teaches. As a result, nobody can say: ‘God should not punish me.’ Everybody in the world must stand in front of God and he will judge them. 20 God's Law shows people clearly that they have done wrong things. Nobody can become right with God because they obey that Law.

How God accepts people

21 But now we know how to become right with God. God has shown us the way that he will accept people as right with himself. This way is not part of the Law that he gave to Moses. But God's Law and the messages of his prophets have told us about it. 22 God accepts people as right with himself because Jesus Christ did what God wanted. God accepts every person who believes in Christ. It is the same way for everyone, whether they are Jews or Gentiles.

23 All people have done wrong things. Nobody can be good and great, as God wanted them to be. 24 But because God is very kind, he accepts us as right with himself. That is God's gift to us. Jesus Christ has paid for our sins so that we have become free. 25 God showed everyone that Jesus Christ died on the cross as a sacrifice for our sins. God forgives us if we trust in Jesus and the blood of his sacrifice. God did this to show clearly that he is always right and fair. In past times, God was patient. He did not punish people who did wrong things. 26 He did this to show us today that he is completely right and fair. He accepts people as right with himself if they believe in Jesus.

27 So then, nobody should be proud that they are good enough. Nobody becomes right with God because they have done good things. No! God accepts a person only if that person believes in Jesus Christ. 28 So this is what we are saying. A person becomes right with God if they trust in Christ. It is not because they do the good things which God's Law teaches.

29 God is not God only for Jewish people. He is also God for the Gentiles. Yes! He is the God for all people. 30 There is only one God. He will accept Jews as right with himself if they believe in Christ. He will also accept other people as right with himself if they believe in Christ. 31 What does this show us about God's Law which he gave to Moses? When we say that all people need to believe in Jesus, does that mean that God's Law has no purpose? No! When we believe in Jesus, we are showing the true purpose of God's Law.
