Kinahabagan ng Diyos ang Israel
11 Ito(A) ngayon ang tanong ko: Itinakwil ba ng Diyos ang kanyang sariling bayan? Hinding-hindi! Sa katunayan, ako man ay isang Israelita, mula sa lahi ni Abraham at kabilang sa lipi ni Benjamin. 2 Hindi itinakwil ng Diyos ang kanyang bayan na sa simula pa'y pinili na niya. Hindi ba ninyo alam ang sinasabi ng kasulatan tungkol kay Elias? Dumaing siya sa Diyos laban sa Israel. 3 Sinabi(B) niya, “Panginoon, pinatay nila ang iyong mga propeta at giniba ang iyong mga altar. Ako na lamang ang natitira, at gusto pa nila akong patayin!” 4 Ngunit(C) ano ang sagot sa kanya ng Diyos? “Nagtira ako ng pitong libong lalaking hindi sumamba sa diyus-diyosang si Baal.” 5 Ganoon din sa kasalukuyan; mayroon pang nalalabing mga hinirang ng Diyos dahil sa kanyang kagandahang-loob. 6 At kung iyon ay dahil sa kanyang kagandahang-loob, maliwanag na iyon ay hindi dahil sa gawa, sapagkat kung ang ginawa ng tao ang batayan, hindi na iyon masasabing kagandahang-loob.
7 Ano ngayon? Hindi nakamtan ng bansang Israel ang kanyang minimithi. Ang mga hinirang lamang ang nagkamit nito ngunit matigas ang ulo ng iba. 8 Tulad(D) ng nasusulat:
“Binigyan sila ng Diyos ng mapurol na diwa,
mga matang hindi makakita
at mga taingang hindi makarinig,
hanggang sa panahong ito.”
9 At(E) sinabi rin ni David,
“Maging bitag at patibong nawa ang kanilang pagpipista,
isang katitisuran at parusa sa kanila.
10 Lumabo nawa ang kanilang mata nang hindi sila makakita,
at sila'y makuba sa hirap habang buhay.”
11 Ito naman ang tanong ko ngayon: Ang pagkatisod ba nila ay upang sila'y tuluyan nang mabuwal? Hinding-hindi! Sa halip, dahil sa kanilang kasalanan, ang kaligtasan ay nakarating sa mga Hentil upang mainggit ang mga Israelita sa mga ito. 12 Ngayon, kung ang kasalanan ng mga Israelita ay nagdulot ng masaganang pagpapala sa sanlibutan, at kung ang kanilang pagbagsak ay nagdulot ng masaganang pagpapala sa mga Hentil, gaano pa kaya kapag nagbalik-loob sa Diyos ang buong Israel!
Ang Kaligtasan ng mga Hentil
13 Ito naman ang sasabihin ko sa inyo, mga Hentil. Dahil ako'y apostol para sa inyo, ipinagmamalaki ko ang aking katungkulan. 14 Ginagawa ko ito upang inggitin ang aking mga kababayang Judio, at nang sa gayon ay maligtas kahit ang ilan sa kanila. 15 Kung ang pagkatakwil sa kanila ay naging daan upang ipagkasundo sa Diyos ang sanlibutan, ang muling pagtanggap sa kanila ng Diyos ay matutulad sa muling pagkabuhay ng patay!
16 Kung banal ang unang tinapay mula sa masa ng harina, gayundin ang buong masa. At kung ang ugat ng punongkahoy ay banal, gayundin ang mga sanga nito. 17 Kung pinutol ang ilang sanga ng punong olibo, at ikaw na sanga ng olibong ligaw ang idinugtong sa puno upang makabahagi sa buhay na nanggagaling sa ugat ng punong ito, 18 huwag kang magmalaki sa mga sangang pinutol. Alalahanin mong hindi ikaw ang bumubuhay sa mga ugat; ang mga ugat ang bumubuhay sa iyo.
19 Sasabihin mo naman, “Pinutol ang mga sanga upang ako'y maidugtong.” 20 Totoo iyan. Pinutol sila dahil hindi sila sumampalataya, ngunit ikaw naman ay nananatili sa puno dahil sa iyong pananampalataya. Kaya't huwag kang magmalaki, sa halip ay matakot ka. 21 Sapagkat kung ang mga tunay na sanga ay hindi pinanghinayangan ng Diyos, ikaw pa kaya ang panghinayangan niya? 22 Dito'y nakikita natin ang kabutihan at kabagsikan ng Diyos. Naging mabagsik siya sa mga hindi sumasampalataya sa kanya, subalit mabuti siya sa inyo, kung mananatili kayo sa kanyang kabutihan. Kung hindi, kayo ma'y puputulin din. 23 Ang mga Judio'y idudugtong niyang muli sa puno kung sila ay sasampalataya, sapagkat kayang gawin iyon ng Diyos. 24 Kung ikaw na sangang galing sa olibong ligaw ay naidugtong sa tunay na olibo, kahit na ito'y salungat sa kalikasan, lalo pang madaling idugtong sa puno ang mga talagang sanga nito.
Nahahabag ang Diyos sa Lahat
25 Mga kapatid, isang hiwaga ang nais kong malaman ninyo upang hindi maging mataas ang palagay ninyo sa inyong sarili. Ang pagmamatigas ng Israel ay sa isang bahagi lamang hanggang sa mabuo ang takdang bilang ng lahat ng mga Hentil na lalapit sa Diyos. 26 Sa paraang ito, maliligtas ang buong Israel; tulad ng nasusulat:
“Magmumula sa Zion ang Tagapagligtas.
Papawiin niya ang kasamaan sa lahi ni Jacob.
27 At(F) ito ang gagawin kong kasunduan namin
kapag pinawi ko na ang kanilang mga kasalanan.”
28 Dahil tinanggihan ng mga Israelita ang Magandang Balita, sila'y naging kaaway ng Diyos, at kayong mga Hentil ang nakinabang. Ngunit dahil sa sila ang mga hinirang ng Diyos, sila'y mahal pa rin niya, alang-alang sa kanilang mga ninuno. 29 Sapagkat hindi nagbabago ng isip ang Diyos tungkol sa kanyang mga kaloob at pagtawag. 30 Noon, kayong mga Hentil ay hindi sumusunod sa Diyos, ngunit ngayon, kayo ay tumanggap ng habag ng Diyos nang sumuway ang mga Judio. 31 Gayundin naman, dahil sa habag ng Diyos na inyong naranasan, sinusuway naman ngayon ng mga Judio ang Diyos, nang sa gayo'y maranasan din nila [ngayon][a] ang kanyang habag. 32 Sapagkat hinayaan ng Diyos na maalipin sa pagsuway ang lahat ng tao upang maipadama niya sa kanila ang kanyang habag.
Papuri sa Diyos
33 Lubhang(G) napakasagana ng kayamanan ng Diyos! Di matarok ang kanyang karunungan at kaalaman! Sino ang makakapagpaliwanag ng kanyang mga kapasyahan? Sino ang makakaunawa ng kanyang mga pamamaraan? Gaya ng nasusulat,
34 “Sino(H) ang nakakaalam sa pag-iisip ng Panginoon?
Sino ang maaaring maging tagapayo niya?
35 Sino(I) ang nakapagbigay ng anuman sa kanya
na dapat niyang bayaran?”
36 Sapagkat(J) ang lahat ng bagay ay mula sa kanya, sa pamamagitan niya, at pag-aari niya. Sa kanya ang karangalan magpakailanman! Amen.

Los planes de Dios
11 Ahora pregunto: ¿Será que Dios ha rechazado a su pueblo? ¡Claro que no! Yo mismo soy israelita, descendiente de Abraham y de la tribu de Benjamín. 2 Desde el principio, Dios había reconocido a los israelitas como su pueblo; y ahora no los ha rechazado. ¿No saben ustedes que la Escritura dice en la historia del profeta Elías que éste, en su oración a Dios, acusó al pueblo de Israel? Dijo: 3 «Señor, han matado a tus profetas y han destruido tus altares; sólo yo he quedado con vida, y a mí también me quieren matar.» 4 Pero Dios le contestó: «He apartado para mí siete mil hombres que no se han arrodillado ante el dios Baal.» 5 Pues de la misma manera, ha quedado ahora un pequeño resto, que Dios, en su bondad, ha escogido. 6 Y si es por la bondad de Dios, ya no es por los hechos; porque si así fuera, la bondad de Dios ya no sería bondad.
7 ¿Entonces qué? Los israelitas no consiguieron lo que buscaban, pero los que Dios escogió sí lo consiguieron. Los otros fueron endurecidos, 8 como dice la Escritura: «Dios los hizo espiritualmente insensibles, y así son hasta el día de hoy; les dio ojos que no ven y oídos que no oyen.» 9 También dice David:
«Que sus banquetes se les vuelvan trampas y redes,
para que tropiecen y sean castigados.
10 Que sus ojos se queden ciegos y no vean;
que su espalda se les doble para siempre.»
La salvación de los no judíos
11 Ahora pregunto: ¿Será que los judíos, al tropezar, cayeron por completo? ¡De ninguna manera! Al contrario, al desobedecer los judíos, los otros han podido alcanzar la salvación, para que los israelitas se pongan celosos. 12 Así que, si el tropiezo y el fracaso de los judíos han servido para enriquecer al mundo, a los que no son judíos, ¡ya podemos imaginarnos lo que será su plena restauración!
13 Pero tengo algo que decirles a ustedes, que no son judíos. Puesto que Dios me ha enviado a los no judíos, yo tengo en gran estima este servicio. 14 Quiero que algunos de mi propia raza sientan celos de ustedes, y así llevarlos a la salvación. 15 Pues si el rechazo de los judíos ha traído al mundo la reconciliación con Dios, ¿qué no traerá el que sean aceptados? ¡Nada menos que vida para los que estaban muertos! 16 Pues si el primer pan que se hace de la masa está consagrado a Dios, también lo está la masa entera. Y si la raíz del árbol está consagrada a Dios, también lo están las ramas.
17 Al olivo, que son los judíos, se le cortaron algunas de las ramas, y en su lugar se le injertó el olivo silvestre, que eres tú. Así llegaste a tener parte en la misma raíz y en la misma vida del olivo. 18 Pero no te gloríes, despreciando las ramas naturales. Si lo haces, recuerda que no eres tú quien sostiene a la raíz, sino que la raíz te sostiene a ti.
19 Tal vez dirás: «Sí, pero se cortaron unas ramas para injertarme a mí en el olivo.» 20 Bien, pero fueron cortadas porque no tenían fe, y tú estás ahí únicamente porque tienes fe. Así que no te jactes, sino más bien siente temor. 21 Porque si Dios no perdonó a las ramas naturales, tampoco a ti te perdonará. 22 Mira, pues, qué bueno es Dios, aunque también qué estricto. Ha sido estricto con los que cayeron, y ha sido bueno contigo. Pero tienes que vivir siempre de acuerdo con su bondad; pues de lo contrario también tú serás cortado. 23 Por otra parte, si los judíos abandonan su incredulidad, serán injertados de nuevo; pues Dios tiene poder para volver a injertarlos. 24 Porque si tú, que por naturaleza eras un olivo silvestre, fuiste cortado e injertado contra lo natural en el olivo bueno, ¡cuánto más los judíos, que son ramas naturales del olivo bueno, serán injertados nuevamente en su propio olivo!
La salvación final de Israel
25 Hermanos, quiero que sepan este designio secreto de Dios, para que no presuman de sabios: los israelitas se han endurecido en parte, pero sólo hasta que hayan entrado todos los que no son de Israel. 26 Cuando esto suceda, todo Israel alcanzará la salvación, pues la Escritura dice:
«El libertador vendrá de Sión
y apartará de Jacob la maldad.
27 Y ésta será mi alianza con ellos
cuando yo quite sus pecados.»
28 En cuanto al evangelio, los judíos son tenidos por enemigos de Dios a fin de darles oportunidad a ustedes; pero Dios todavía los ama a ellos, porque escogió a sus antepasados. 29 Pues lo que Dios da, no lo quita, ni retira tampoco su llamamiento. 30 En tiempos pasados, ustedes desobedecieron a Dios, pero ahora que los judíos han desobedecido, Dios tiene compasión de ustedes. 31 De la misma manera, ellos han desobedecido ahora, pero solamente para que Dios tenga compasión de ustedes y para que, también ahora, tenga compasión de ellos. 32 Porque Dios sujetó a todos por igual a la desobediencia, con el fin de tener compasión de todos por igual.
33 ¡Qué profundas son las riquezas de Dios, y su sabiduría y entendimiento! Nadie puede explicar sus decisiones, ni llegar a comprender sus caminos. 34 Pues «¿quién conoce la mente del Señor? ¿Quién podrá darle consejos? 35 ¿Quién le ha dado algo antes, para que él tenga que devolvérselo?» 36 Porque todas las cosas vienen de Dios, y existen por él y para él. ¡Gloria para siempre a Dios! Amén.
Romans 11

11 I say then, Hath God cast away his people? God forbid. For I also am an Israelite, of the seed of Abraham, of the tribe of Benjamin.
2 God hath not cast away his people which he foreknew. Wot ye not what the scripture saith of Elias? how he maketh intercession to God against Israel saying,
3 Lord, they have killed thy prophets, and digged down thine altars; and I am left alone, and they seek my life.
4 But what saith the answer of God unto him? I have reserved to myself seven thousand men, who have not bowed the knee to the image of Baal.
5 Even so then at this present time also there is a remnant according to the election of grace.
6 And if by grace, then is it no more of works: otherwise grace is no more grace. But if it be of works, then it is no more grace: otherwise work is no more work.
7 What then? Israel hath not obtained that which he seeketh for; but the election hath obtained it, and the rest were blinded.
8 (According as it is written, God hath given them the spirit of slumber, eyes that they should not see, and ears that they should not hear;) unto this day.
9 And David saith, Let their table be made a snare, and a trap, and a stumblingblock, and a recompence unto them:
10 Let their eyes be darkened, that they may not see, and bow down their back alway.
11 I say then, Have they stumbled that they should fall? God forbid: but rather through their fall salvation is come unto the Gentiles, for to provoke them to jealousy.
12 Now if the fall of them be the riches of the world, and the diminishing of them the riches of the Gentiles; how much more their fulness?
13 For I speak to you Gentiles, inasmuch as I am the apostle of the Gentiles, I magnify mine office:
14 If by any means I may provoke to emulation them which are my flesh, and might save some of them.
15 For if the casting away of them be the reconciling of the world, what shall the receiving of them be, but life from the dead?
16 For if the firstfruit be holy, the lump is also holy: and if the root be holy, so are the branches.
17 And if some of the branches be broken off, and thou, being a wild olive tree, wert grafted in among them, and with them partakest of the root and fatness of the olive tree;
18 Boast not against the branches. But if thou boast, thou bearest not the root, but the root thee.
19 Thou wilt say then, The branches were broken off, that I might be grafted in.
20 Well; because of unbelief they were broken off, and thou standest by faith. Be not highminded, but fear:
21 For if God spared not the natural branches, take heed lest he also spare not thee.
22 Behold therefore the goodness and severity of God: on them which fell, severity; but toward thee, goodness, if thou continue in his goodness: otherwise thou also shalt be cut off.
23 And they also, if they abide not still in unbelief, shall be grafted in: for God is able to graft them in again.
24 For if thou wert cut out of the olive tree which is wild by nature, and wert grafted contrary to nature into a good olive tree: how much more shall these, which be the natural branches, be grafted into their own olive tree?
25 For I would not, brethren, that ye should be ignorant of this mystery, lest ye should be wise in your own conceits; that blindness in part is happened to Israel, until the fulness of the Gentiles be come in.
26 And so all Israel shall be saved: as it is written, There shall come out of Sion the Deliverer, and shall turn away ungodliness from Jacob:
27 For this is my covenant unto them, when I shall take away their sins.
28 As concerning the gospel, they are enemies for your sakes: but as touching the election, they are beloved for the father's sakes.
29 For the gifts and calling of God are without repentance.
30 For as ye in times past have not believed God, yet have now obtained mercy through their unbelief:
31 Even so have these also now not believed, that through your mercy they also may obtain mercy.
32 For God hath concluded them all in unbelief, that he might have mercy upon all.
33 O the depth of the riches both of the wisdom and knowledge of God! how unsearchable are his judgments, and his ways past finding out!
34 For who hath known the mind of the Lord? or who hath been his counsellor?
35 Or who hath first given to him, and it shall be recompensed unto him again?
36 For of him, and through him, and to him, are all things: to whom be glory for ever. Amen.
