³ For what does the Scripture say? “Abraham believed God, and it was accounted to him for righteousness.”^(A)

¹¹ For the Scripture says, “Whoever believes in him will not be disappointed.”^(A)

² God didn’t reject his people, whom he foreknew. Or don’t you know what the Scripture says about Elijah? How he pleads with God against Israel:

³ For I delivered to you first of all that which I also received: that Christ died for our sins according to the Scriptures, ⁴ that he was buried, that he was raised on the third day according to the Scriptures,

⁸ The Scripture, foreseeing that God would justify the Gentiles by faith, preached the Good News beforehand to Abraham, saying, “In you all the nations will be blessed.”^(A)

²² But the Scripture imprisoned all things under sin, that the promise by faith in Jesus Christ might be given to those who believe.

¹⁸ For the Scripture says, “You shall not muzzle the ox when it treads out the grain.”^(A) And, “The laborer is worthy of his wages.”^(B)
