3 ¹ See what love the Father has given us, that we should be called children of God, and that is what we are. The reason the world does not know us is that it did not know him. ² Beloved, we are God’s children now; what we will be has not yet been revealed. What we do know is this: when he^[a] is revealed, we will be like him, for we will see him as he is.^{(A) 3} And all who have this hope in him purify themselves, just as he is pure.

²⁶ for in Christ Jesus you are all children of God through faith.^(A)

¹⁶ it is that very Spirit bearing witness^[a] with our spirit that we are children of God,^(A)

⁵² and not for the nation only, but to gather into one the dispersed children of God.

¹⁶ Simon Peter answered, “You are the Messiah,^[a] the Son of the living God.”^(A)

⁹ Then the Lord said, “Name him Lo-ammi,^[a] for you are not my people, and I am not your God.”^[b]

The Restoration of Israel

^10 [c]Yet the number of the people of Israel shall be like the sand of the sea, which can be neither measured nor numbered, and in the place where it was said to them, “You are not my people,” it shall be said to them, “Children of the living God.”^(A)
