¹⁵ For He says to Moses, ^(A)“I will have mercy on whomever I will have mercy, and I will have compassion on whomever I will have compassion.”

¹⁹ Then He said, “I will make all My ^(A)goodness pass before you, and I will proclaim the name of the Lord before you. ^(B)I will be gracious to whom I will be ^(C)gracious, and I will have compassion on whom I will have compassion.”

¹⁶ So then it is not of him who wills, nor of him who runs, but of God who shows mercy.

¹⁸ Therefore He has mercy on whom He wills, and whom He wills He ^(A)hardens.

¹⁹ You will say to me then, “Why does He still find fault? For ^(B)who has resisted His will?”

⁶ And the Lord passed before him and proclaimed, “The Lord, the Lord ^(A)God, merciful and gracious, longsuffering, and abounding in ^(B)goodness and ^(C)truth, ^7 (D)keeping mercy for thousands, ^(E)forgiving iniquity and transgression and sin, ^(F)by no means clearing the guilty, visiting the iniquity of the fathers upon the children and the children’s children to the third and the fourth generation.”
