⁵ For ^(A)those who live according to the flesh set their minds on the things of the flesh, but those who live according to the Spirit, ^(B)the things of the Spirit.

¹⁹ Now ^(A)the works of the flesh are evident, which are: ^[a]adultery, ^[b]fornication, uncleanness, lewdness, ²⁰ idolatry, sorcery, hatred, contentions, jealousies, outbursts of wrath, selfish ambitions, dissensions, heresies, ²¹ envy, ^[c]murders, drunkenness, revelries, and the like; of which I tell you beforehand, just as I also told you in time past, that ^(B)those who practice such things will not inherit the kingdom of God.

²² But ^(C)the fruit of the Spirit is ^(D)love, joy, peace, longsuffering, kindness, ^(E)goodness, ^(F)faithfulness, ^23 [d]gentleness, self-control. ^(G)Against such there is no law. ²⁴ And those who are Christ’s ^(H)have crucified the flesh with its passions and desires. ^25 (I)If we live in the Spirit, let us also walk in the Spirit.

^14 (A)But the natural man does not receive the things of the Spirit of God, for they are foolishness to him; nor can he know them, because they are spiritually discerned.

⁶ That which is born of the flesh is ^(A)flesh, and that which is born of the Spirit is spirit.

Not Carnality but Christ

3 If then you were ^(A)raised with Christ, seek those things which are above, ^(B)where Christ is, sitting at the right hand of God. ² Set your mind on things above, not on things on the ^(C)earth. ^3 (D)For you died, ^(E)and your life is hidden with Christ in God.

⁶ For ^(A)to be ^[a]carnally minded is death, but to be spiritually minded is life and peace. ⁷ Because ^(B)the ^[b]carnal mind is enmity against God; for it is not subject to the law of God, ^(C)nor indeed can be.

¹⁸ For many walk, of whom I have told you often, and now tell you even weeping, that they are ^(A)the enemies of the cross of Christ: ^19 (B)whose end is destruction, ^(C)whose god is their belly, and ^(D)whose glory is in their shame—^(E)who set their mind on earthly things.

⁹ But you are not in the flesh but in the Spirit, if indeed the Spirit of God dwells in you. Now if anyone does not have the Spirit of Christ, he is not His.

Sonship Through the Spirit

^12 (A)Therefore, brethren, we are debtors—not to the flesh, to live according to the flesh. ¹³ For ^(B)if you live according to the flesh you will die; but if by the Spirit you ^(C)put to death the deeds of the body, you will live. ¹⁴ For ^(D)as many as are led by the Spirit of God, these are sons of God.
