^16 (A)The Spirit Himself bears witness with our spirit that we are children of God,

^13 (A)By this we know that we abide in Him, and He in us, because He has given us of His Spirit.

²² who ^(A)also has sealed us and ^(B)given us the Spirit in our hearts as a guarantee.

⁵ Now He who has prepared us for this very thing is God, who also ^(A)has given us the Spirit as ^[a]a guarantee.

¹⁹ And by this we ^[a]know ^(A)that we are of the truth, and shall ^[b]assure our hearts before Him. ^20 (B)For if our heart condemns us, God is greater than our heart, and knows all things. ²¹ Beloved, if our heart does not condemn us, ^(C)we have confidence toward God. ²² And ^(D)whatever we ask we receive from Him, because we keep His commandments ^(E)and do those things that are pleasing in His sight.

¹³ In Him you also trusted, after you heard ^(A)the word of truth, the gospel of your salvation; in whom also, having believed, ^(B)you were sealed with the Holy Spirit of promise,

²⁶ Likewise the Spirit also helps in our weaknesses. For ^(A)we do not know what we should pray for as we ought, but ^(B)the Spirit Himself makes intercession ^[a]for us with groanings which cannot be uttered.

³⁰ And ^(A)do not grieve the Holy Spirit of God, by whom you were sealed for the day of redemption.

Paul’s Sincerity

¹² For our boasting is this: the testimony of our conscience that we conducted ourselves in the world in ^[a]simplicity and ^(A)godly sincerity, ^(B)not with fleshly wisdom but by the grace of God, and more abundantly toward you.
