⁶ But now we are released from the law, having died to that which held us captive, so that we serve in the ^(A)new way of ^(B)the Spirit and not in the old way of the written code.^[a]

⁶ who has made us sufficient to be ^(A)ministers of ^(B)a new covenant, not of ^(C)the letter but of the Spirit. For the letter kills, but ^(D)the Spirit gives life.

²³ Now before faith came, we were held captive under the law, ^(A)imprisoned until the coming faith would be revealed. ²⁴ So then, ^(B)the law was our ^(C)guardian until Christ came, ^(D)in order that we might be justified by faith. ²⁵ But now that faith has come, we are no longer under a guardian,

⁴ Likewise, my brothers, ^(A)you also have died ^(B)to the law ^(C)through the body of Christ, so that you may belong to another, to him who has been raised from the dead, ^(D)in order that we may bear fruit for God.

⁴ We were ^(A)buried therefore with him by baptism into death, in order that, just as ^(B)Christ was raised from the dead by ^(C)the glory of the Father, we too might walk in ^(D)newness of life.

⁴ But ^(A)when the fullness of time had come, God sent forth his Son, ^(B)born ^(C)of woman, born ^(D)under the law, ^5 (E)to redeem those who were under the law, so that we might receive ^(F)adoption as sons.

¹⁹ For through the law I ^(A)died to the law, so that I might ^(B)live to God. ²⁰ I have been ^(C)crucified with Christ. It is no longer I who live, but Christ who lives ^(D)in me. And the life I now live in the flesh I live by faith in the Son of God, ^(E)who loved me and ^(F)gave himself for me.

¹⁴ For ^(A)sin ^(B)will have no dominion over you, since you are not under law but under grace.

¹⁵ What then? ^(C)Are we to sin ^(D)because we are not under law but under grace? By no means!

¹³ Christ ^(A)redeemed us from the curse of the law by becoming a curse for us—for it is written, ^(B)“Cursed is everyone who is hanged ^(C)on a tree”—
