⁶ We know that our old self was crucified with him so that the body of sin might be destroyed, so we might no longer be enslaved to sin.^(A)

²⁰ and it is no longer I who live, but it is Christ who lives in me. And the life I now live in the flesh I live by the faith of the Son of God,^[a] who loved me and gave himself for me.^(A)

²² to put away your former way of life, your old self, corrupt and deluded by its lusts,^(A)

¹⁴ May I never boast of anything except the cross of our Lord Jesus Christ, by which^[a] the world has been crucified to me and I to the world.^(A)

²⁴ And those who belong to Christ^[a] have crucified the flesh with its passions and desires.^(A)

³⁴ Jesus answered them, “Very truly, I tell you, everyone who commits sin is a slave to sin.^{(A) 35} The slave does not have a permanent place in the household; the son has a place there forever.^{(B) 36} So if the Son makes you free, you will be free indeed.

¹³ for if you live according to the flesh, you will die, but if by the Spirit you put to death the deeds of the body, you will live.^(A)

⁹ Do not lie to one another, seeing that you have stripped off the old self with its practices ¹⁰ and have clothed yourselves with the new self, which is being renewed in knowledge according to the image of its creator.^(A)

⁵ Put to death, therefore, whatever in you is earthly: sexual immorality, impurity, passion, evil desire, and greed (which is idolatry).^(A)

²⁴ Wretched person that I am! Who will rescue me from this body of death? ²⁵ Thanks be to God^[a] through Jesus Christ our Lord!

So then, with my mind I am enslaved to the law of God, but with my flesh I am enslaved to the law of sin.
