The Promise Realized Through Faith

¹³ For ^(A)the promise to Abraham and his offspring ^(B)that he would be heir of the world did not come through the law but through the righteousness of faith.

²⁹ And ^(A)if you are Christ's, then you are Abraham's offspring, ^(B)heirs according to promise.

⁸ This means that it is not the children of the flesh who are the children of God, but ^(A)the children of the promise are counted as offspring.

¹⁴ Your offspring shall be like ^(A)the dust of the earth, and you shall spread abroad to the west and to the east and to the north and to the south, and in you and ^(B)your offspring shall all the families of the earth be blessed.

¹⁷ I will surely bless you, and I will surely multiply your offspring ^(A)as the stars of heaven and ^(B)as the sand that is on the seashore. And your offspring shall possess ^(C)the gate of his^[a] enemies, ¹⁸ and ^(D)in your offspring shall all the nations of the earth be blessed, ^(E)because you have obeyed my voice.”

⁴ “Behold, my covenant is with you, and you shall be ^(A)the father of a multitude of nations. ⁵ No longer shall your name be called Abram,^[a] but ^(B)your name shall be Abraham,^{[b] (C)}for I have made you the father of a multitude of nations. ⁶ I will make you exceedingly fruitful, and I will make ^(D)you into nations, and ^(E)kings shall come from you.

¹⁶ Now ^(A)the promises were made ^(B)to Abraham and to his offspring. It does not say, “And to offsprings,” referring to many, but referring to one, ^(C)“And to your offspring,” who is Christ. ¹⁷ This is what I mean: the law, which came ^(D)430 years afterward, does not annul a covenant previously ratified by God, so as ^(E)to make the promise void. ¹⁸ For if the inheritance comes by the law, it no longer comes by promise; but ^(F)God gave it to Abraham by a promise.

¹⁶ I will bless her, and moreover, I will ^(A)give^[a] you a son by her. I will bless her, and ^(B)she shall become nations; kings of peoples shall come from her.”
