²⁸ For we hold that one is justified by faith ^(A)apart from works of the law.

²⁴ You see that a person is justified by works and not by faith alone.

⁷ so that ^(A)being justified by his grace we might become ^(B)heirs ^(C)according to the hope of eternal life.

⁸ And the Scripture, foreseeing that ^(A)God would justify^[a] the Gentiles by faith, preached the gospel beforehand to Abraham, saying, ^(B)“In you shall all the nations be blessed.”

²⁴ So then, ^(A)the law was our ^(B)guardian until Christ came, ^(C)in order that we might be justified by faith.

⁵ And to the one who does not work but ^(A)believes in^[a] him who justifies the ungodly, his faith is counted as righteousness,

²⁶ It was to show his righteousness at the present time, so that he might be just and the justifier of the one who has faith in Jesus.

⁹ and be found in him, not having ^(A)a righteousness of my own that comes from the law, but ^(B)that which comes through faith in Christ, the righteousness from God that depends on faith—

^9 (A)not a result of works, ^(B)so that no one may boast.

¹¹ Now it is evident that ^(A)no one is justified before God by the law, for ^(B)“The righteous shall live by faith.”^{[a] 12} But the law is not of faith, rather ^(C)“The one who does them shall live by them.” ¹³ Christ ^(D)redeemed us from the curse of the law by becoming a curse for us—for it is written, ^(E)“Cursed is everyone who is hanged ^(F)on a tree”— ¹⁴ so that in Christ Jesus the blessing of Abraham might ^(G)come to the Gentiles, so that ^(H)we might receive ^(I)the promised Spirit^[b] through faith.
