that in the ages to come He might show the exceeding riches of His grace in (A)His kindness toward us in Christ Jesus. 16 And the gift is not like that which came through the one who sinned. For the judgment which came from one offense resulted in condemnation, but the free gift which came from many [a]offenses resulted in justification. 17 For if by the one man’s [b]offense death reigned through the one, much more those who receive abundance of grace and of the gift of righteousness will reign in life through the One, Jesus Christ.)

18 Therefore, as through [c]one man’s offense judgment came to all men, resulting in condemnation, even so through (A)one[d] Man’s righteous act the free gift came (B)to all men, resulting in justification of life. 19 For as by one man’s disobedience many were made sinners, so also by (C)one Man’s obedience many will be made righteous.

For a tabernacle was prepared: the first part, in which was the lampstand, the table, and the showbread, which is called the [a]sanctuary; (A)and behind the second veil, the part of the tabernacle which is called the Holiest of All, which had the (B)golden censer and (C)the ark of the covenant overlaid on all sides with gold, in which were (D)the golden pot that had the manna, (E)Aaron’s rod that budded, and (F)the tablets of the covenant; and (G)above it were the cherubim of glory overshadowing the mercy seat. Of these things we cannot now speak in detail.

Limitations of the Earthly Service

Now when these things had been thus prepared, (H)the priests always went into the first part of the tabernacle, performing the services. But into the second part the high priest went alone (I)once a year, not without blood, which he offered for (J)himself and for the people’s sins committed in ignorance; the Holy Spirit indicating this, that (K)the way into the Holiest of All was not yet made manifest while the first tabernacle was still standing. It was symbolic for the present time in which both gifts and sacrifices are offered (L)which cannot make him who performed the service perfect in regard to the conscience— 10 concerned only with (M)foods and drinks, (N)various [b]washings, (O)and fleshly ordinances imposed until the time of reformation.

The Heavenly Sanctuary

11 But Christ came as High Priest of (P)the good things [c]to come, with the greater and more perfect tabernacle not made with hands, that is, not of this creation. 12 Not (Q)with the blood of goats and calves, but (R)with His own blood He entered the Most Holy Place (S)once for all, (T)having obtained eternal redemption. 13 For if (U)the blood of bulls and goats and (V)the ashes of a heifer, sprinkling the unclean, [d]sanctifies for the [e]purifying of the flesh, 14 how much more shall the blood of Christ, who through the eternal Spirit offered Himself without [f]spot to God, (W)cleanse your conscience from (X)dead works (Y)to serve the living God? 15 And for this reason (Z)He is the Mediator of the new covenant, by means of death, for the redemption of the transgressions under the first covenant, that (AA)those who are called may receive the promise of the eternal inheritance.
