³ Do you imagine, whoever you are, that when you judge those who do such things and yet do them yourself, you will escape the judgment of God?

³² They know God’s decree, that those who practice such things deserve to die, yet they not only do them but even applaud others who practice them.^(A)

The Righteous Judgment of God

2 Therefore you are without excuse, whoever you are, when you judge others, for in passing judgment on another you condemn yourself, because you, the judge, are doing the very same things.^(B)

³ When they say, “There is peace and security,” then sudden destruction will come upon them, as labor pains come upon a pregnant woman, and there will be no escape!^(A)

¹⁴ But he said to him, “Friend, who set me to be a judge or arbitrator over you?”^(A)

³³ You snakes, you brood of vipers! How can you escape the judgment of hell?^[a]

⁵⁸ A little later someone else, on seeing him, said, “You also are one of them.” But Peter said, “Man, I am not!”

⁵³ Do you think that I cannot appeal to my Father, and he will at once send me more than twelve legions of angels?^(A)

¹⁹ He said, “Do not fear, greatly beloved; you are safe. Be strong and courageous!” When he spoke to me, I was strengthened and said, “Let my lord speak, for you have strengthened me.”^(A)

¹⁸ Because he despised the oath and broke the covenant, because he gave his hand and yet did all these things, he shall not escape.^(A)
