²⁸ For ^(A)he is not a Jew who is one outwardly, nor is circumcision that which is outward in the flesh;

¹⁵ For ^(A)in Christ Jesus neither circumcision nor uncircumcision avails anything, but a new creation.

⁹ and do not think to say to yourselves, ^(A)‘We have Abraham as our father.’ For I say to you that God is able to raise up children to Abraham from these stones.

⁹ “I know your works, tribulation, and poverty (but you are ^(A)rich); and I know the blasphemy of ^(B)those who say they are Jews and are not, ^(C)but are a ^[a]synagogue of Satan.

Israel’s Rejection and God’s Purpose^(A)

^6 (B)But it is not that the word of God has taken no effect. For ^(C)they are not all Israel who are of Israel, ^7 (D)nor are they all children because they are the seed of Abraham; but, ^(E)“In Isaac your seed shall be called.” ⁸ That is, those who are the children of the flesh, these are not the children of God; but ^(F)the children of the promise are counted as the seed.

Israel Refined for God’s Glory

¹⁰ How then was it accounted? While he was circumcised, or uncircumcised? Not while circumcised, but while uncircumcised. ¹¹ And ^(A)he received the sign of circumcision, a seal of the righteousness of the faith which he had while still uncircumcised, that ^(B)he might be the father of all those who believe, though they are uncircumcised, that righteousness might be imputed to them also, ¹² and the father of circumcision to those who not only are of the circumcision, but who also walk in the steps of the faith which our father ^(C)Abraham had while still uncircumcised.

^21 (A)There is also an antitype which now saves us—baptism ^(B)(not the removal of the filth of the flesh, ^(C)but the answer of a good conscience toward God), through the resurrection of Jesus Christ,
