²⁷ Then he who is physically^[a] uncircumcised but keeps the law ^(A)will condemn you who have ^(B)the written code^[b] and circumcision but break the law.

^41 (A)The men of Nineveh will rise up at the judgment with this generation and ^(B)condemn it, for ^(C)they repented at the preaching of Jonah, and behold, ^(D)something greater than Jonah is here. ^42 (E)The queen of the South will rise up at the judgment with this generation and condemn it, for she came from the ends of the earth to hear the wisdom of Solomon, and behold, ^(F)something greater than Solomon is here.

⁶ who has made us sufficient to be ^(A)ministers of ^(B)a new covenant, not of ^(C)the letter but of the Spirit. For the letter kills, but ^(D)the Spirit gives life.

⁴ in order that ^(A)the righteous requirement of the law might be fulfilled in us, ^(B)who walk not according to the flesh but according to the Spirit.

⁶ But now we are released from the law, having died to that which held us captive, so that we serve in the ^(A)new way of ^(B)the Spirit and not in the old way of the written code.^[a]

The Law and Sin

⁷ What then shall we say? That the law is sin? By no means! Yet if it had not been for the law, ^(C)I would not have known sin. For I would not have known what it is to covet if ^(D)the law had not said, “You shall not covet.” ⁸ But sin, ^(E)seizing an opportunity through the commandment, produced in me all kinds of covetousness. ^(F)For apart from the law, sin lies dead.

²⁹ But a Jew is one ^(A)inwardly, and ^(B)circumcision is a matter of the heart, by the Spirit, not by the letter. ^(C)His praise is not from man but from God.

³ By faith we understand that the universe was created by ^(A)the word of God, so that what is seen was not made out of ^(B)things that are visible.

¹⁴ For ^(A)the whole law is fulfilled in one word: ^(B)“You shall love your neighbor as yourself.”

¹⁰ Love does no wrong to a neighbor; therefore ^(A)love is the fulfilling of the law.
