²⁴ For, as it is written, “The name of God is blasphemed^[a] among the gentiles because of you.”^(A)

²⁰ But when they came to the nations, wherever they came, they profaned my holy name, in that it was said of them, “These are the people of the Lord, yet they had to go out of his land.”^{(A) 21} But I had concern for my holy name, which the house of Israel had profaned among the nations to which they came.^(B)

²² Therefore say to the house of Israel: Thus says the Lord God: It is not for your sake, O house of Israel, that I am about to act but for the sake of my holy name, which you have profaned among the nations to which you came.^{(C) 23} I will sanctify my great name, which has been profaned among the nations and which you have profaned among them, and the nations shall know that I am the Lord, says the Lord God, when through you I display my holiness before their eyes.^(D)

⁵ Now therefore what am I doing here, says the Lord, seeing that my people are taken away without cause? Their rulers howl, says the Lord, and continually, all day long, my name is despised.^(A)

² Even so, many will follow their debaucheries, and because of these teachers^[a] the way of truth will be maligned.

⁸ and sound speech that cannot be censured; then any opponent will be put to shame, having nothing evil to say of us.^(A)

¹⁴ Nevertheless, because by this deed you have utterly scorned the Lord,^[a] the child born to you shall die.”^(A)

⁵ to be self-controlled, chaste, good managers of the household, kind, submissive to their husbands, so that the word of God may not be discredited.^(A)

6 Let all who are under the yoke of slavery regard their masters as worthy of all honor, so that the name of God and the teaching may not be blasphemed.^(A)
