¹² For as many as have sinned without law will also perish without law, and as many as have sinned in the law will be judged by the law

^21 (A)to ^(B)those who are without law, as without law ^(C)(not being without ^[a]law toward God, but under ^[b]law toward Christ), that I might win those who are without law;

The Law Brings a Curse

¹⁰ For as many as are of the works of the law are under the curse; for it is written, ^(A)“Cursed is everyone who does not continue in all things which are written in the book of the law, to do them.”

¹⁴ for when Gentiles, who do not have the law, by nature do the things in the law, these, although not having the law, are a law to themselves, ¹⁵ who show the ^(A)work of the law written in their hearts, their ^(B)conscience also bearing witness, and between themselves their thoughts accusing or else excusing them) ^16 (C)in the day when God will judge the secrets of men ^(D)by Jesus Christ, ^(E)according to my gospel.

^16 (A)knowing that a man is not ^[a]justified by the works of the law but ^(B)by faith in Jesus Christ, even we have believed in Christ Jesus, that we might be justified by faith in Christ and not ^(C)by the works of the law; for by the works of the law no flesh shall be justified.

¹⁷ “But if, while we seek to be justified by Christ, we ourselves also are found ^(D)sinners, is Christ therefore a minister of sin? Certainly not! ¹⁸ For if I build again those things which I destroyed, I make myself a transgressor. ¹⁹ For I ^(E)through the law ^(F)died to the law that I might ^(G)live to God.

Glory of the New Covenant

⁷ But if ^(A)the ministry of death, ^(B)written and engraved on stones, was glorious, ^(C)so that the children of Israel could not look steadily at the face of Moses because of the glory of his countenance, which glory was passing away, ⁸ how will ^(D)the ministry of the Spirit not be more glorious? ⁹ For if the ministry of condemnation had glory, the ministry ^(E)of righteousness exceeds much more in glory.

Sin’s Advantage in the Law

⁷ What shall we say then? Is the law sin? Certainly not! On the contrary, ^(A)I would not have known sin except through the law. For I would not have known covetousness unless the law had said, ^(B)“You shall not covet.” ⁸ But ^(C)sin, taking opportunity by the commandment, produced in me all manner of evil desire. For ^(D)apart from the law sin was dead. ⁹ I was alive once without the law, but when the commandment came, sin revived and I died. ¹⁰ And the commandment, ^(E)which was to bring life, I found to bring death. ¹¹ For sin, taking occasion by the commandment, deceived me, and by it killed me.

³⁰ Truly, ^(A)these times of ignorance God overlooked, but ^(B)now commands all men everywhere to repent, ³¹ because He has appointed a day on which ^(C)He will judge the world in righteousness by the Man whom He has ordained. He has given assurance of this to all by ^(D)raising Him from the dead.”

⁴⁹ Look, this was the iniquity of your sister Sodom: She and her daughter had pride, ^(A)fullness of food, and abundance of idleness; neither did she strengthen the hand of the poor and needy. ⁵⁰ And they were haughty and ^(B)committed abomination before Me; therefore ^(C)I took them away as ^[a]I saw fit.
