⁴ In fact, they once risked their lives for me. I am thankful to them, and so are all the Gentile churches.

¹⁶ We know what real love is because Jesus gave up his life for us. So we also ought to give up our lives for our brothers and sisters.

³⁰ For he risked his life for the work of Christ, and he was at the point of death while doing for me what you couldn’t do from far away.

¹⁴ And then, dear brothers and sisters, you suffered persecution from your own countrymen. In this way, you imitated the believers in God’s churches in Judea who, because of their belief in Christ Jesus, suffered from their own people, the Jews.

The Collection for Jerusalem

16 Now regarding your question about the money being collected for God’s people in Jerusalem. You should follow the same procedure I gave to the churches in Galatia.

¹⁷ Each of you should continue to live in whatever situation the Lord has placed you, and remain as you were when God first called you. This is my rule for all the churches.

⁷ Now, most people would not be willing to die for an upright person, though someone might perhaps be willing to die for a person who is especially good.

⁵ So the churches were strengthened in their faith and grew larger every day.

⁴¹ Then he traveled throughout Syria and Cilicia, strengthening the churches there.

¹³ There is no greater love than to lay down one’s life for one’s friends.
