¹⁷ Now I urge you, brothers and sisters, keep your eye on those who cause dissensions and ^[a]hindrances ^(A)contrary to the teaching which you learned, and ^(B)turn away from them. ¹⁸ For such people are ^(C)slaves, not of our Lord Christ but of ^(D)their own ^[b]appetites; and by their ^(E)smooth and flattering speech they deceive the hearts of the unsuspecting.

⁹ But ^(A)avoid ^(B)foolish controversies and ^(C)genealogies and strife and ^(D)disputes about the Law, for they are ^(E)useless and worthless. ^10 (F)Reject a ^[a](G)divisive person ^(H)after a first and second warning, ¹¹ knowing that such a person has ^(I)deviated from what is right and is sinning, being self-condemned.
