⁷ For none of us lives for ourselves alone,^(A) and none of us dies for ourselves alone.

² As a result, they do not live the rest of their earthly lives for evil human desires,^(A) but rather for the will of God.

¹⁵ And he died for all, that those who live should no longer live for themselves^(A) but for him who died for them^(B) and was raised again.

¹⁹ Do you not know that your bodies are temples^(A) of the Holy Spirit, who is in you, whom you have received from God? You are not your own;^{(B) 20} you were bought at a price.^(C) Therefore honor God with your bodies.^(D)

¹⁰ He died for us so that, whether we are awake or asleep, we may live together with him.^(A)

¹⁴ who gave himself for us^(A) to redeem us from all wickedness^(B) and to purify^(C) for himself a people that are his very own,^(D) eager to do what is good.^(E)

²⁰ I eagerly expect^(A) and hope that I will in no way be ashamed, but will have sufficient courage^(B) so that now as always Christ will be exalted in my body,^(C) whether by life or by death.^{(D) 21} For to me, to live is Christ^(E) and to die is gain. ²² If I am to go on living in the body, this will mean fruitful labor for me. Yet what shall I choose? I do not know! ²³ I am torn between the two: I desire to depart^(F) and be with Christ,^(G) which is better by far; ²⁴ but it is more necessary for you that I remain in the body.

¹⁹ “For through the law I died to the law^(A) so that I might live for God.^{(B) 20} I have been crucified with Christ^(C) and I no longer live, but Christ lives in me.^(D) The life I now live in the body, I live by faith in the Son of God,^(E) who loved me^(F) and gave himself for me.^(G)

⁹ For this very reason, Christ died and returned to life^(A) so that he might be the Lord of both the dead and the living.^(B)
