³ Let not him who eats despise him who does not eat, and ^(A)let not him who does not eat judge him who eats; for God has received him.

¹⁰ But why do you judge your brother? Or why do you show contempt for your brother? For ^(A)we shall all stand before the judgment seat of ^[a]Christ.

¹⁶ So let no one ^(A)judge you in food or in drink, or regarding a ^[a]festival or a new moon or sabbaths, ^17 (B)which are a shadow of things to come, but the ^[b]substance is of Christ.

The Parable of the Pharisee and the Tax Collector

⁹ Also He spoke this parable to some ^(A)who trusted in themselves that they were righteous, and despised others:

²⁹ “Conscience,” I say, not your own, but that of the other. For ^(A)why is my liberty judged by another man’s conscience? ³⁰ But if I partake with thanks, why am I evil spoken of for the food ^(B)over which I give thanks?

¹³ Therefore let us not judge one another ^[a]anymore, but rather resolve this, ^(A)not to put a stumbling block or a cause to fall in our brother’s way.

Preaching to Cornelius’ Household

³⁴ Then Peter opened his mouth and said: ^(A)“In truth I perceive that God shows no partiality.

¹¹ And ^(A)because of your knowledge shall the weak brother perish, for whom Christ died? ¹² But ^(B)when you thus sin against the brethren, and wound their weak conscience, you sin against Christ. ¹³ Therefore, ^(C)if food makes my brother stumble, I will never again eat meat, lest I make my brother stumble.

²¹ It is good neither to eat ^(A)meat nor drink wine nor do anything by which your brother stumbles ^[a]or is offended or is made weak.

¹⁵ Yet if your brother is grieved because of your food, you are no longer walking in love. ^(A)Do not destroy with your food the one for whom Christ died.
