²³ But those who have doubts are condemned if they eat because they do not act from faith,^[a] for whatever does not proceed from faith^[b] is sin.^[c]

⁶ And without faith it is impossible to please him, for whoever would approach God must believe that he exists and that he rewards those who seek him.

¹⁵ To the pure all things are pure, but to the corrupt and unbelieving nothing is pure; their very minds and consciences are corrupted.^(A)

²⁹ For all who eat and drink^[a] without discerning the body^[b] eat and drink judgment against themselves. ³⁰ For this reason many of you are weak and ill, and some have died.^{[c] 31} But if we judged ourselves, we would not be judged.^(A)

⁷ It is not everyone, however, who has this knowledge. Since some have become so accustomed to idols until now, they still think of the food they eat as food offered to an idol, and their conscience, being weak, is defiled.^(A)

⁵ Some judge one day to be better than another, while others judge all days to be alike. Let all be fully convinced in their own minds.

² Therefore whoever resists authority resists what God has appointed, and those who resist will incur judgment.
