²⁰ Do not destroy the work of God for the sake of food.^(A) All food is clean,^(B) but it is wrong for a person to eat anything that causes someone else to stumble.^(C)

¹⁴ I am convinced, being fully persuaded in the Lord Jesus, that nothing is unclean in itself.^(A) But if anyone regards something as unclean, then for that person it is unclean.^{(B) 15} If your brother or sister is distressed because of what you eat, you are no longer acting in love.^(C) Do not by your eating destroy someone for whom Christ died.^(D)

¹⁵ To the pure, all things are pure,^(A) but to those who are corrupted and do not believe, nothing is pure.^(B) In fact, both their minds and consciences are corrupted.^(C)

¹⁵ The voice spoke to him a second time, “Do not call anything impure that God has made clean.”^(A)

Causing to Stumble

⁶ “If anyone causes one of these little ones—those who believe in me—to stumble, it would be better for them to have a large millstone hung around their neck and to be drowned in the depths of the sea.^(A)

³¹ So whether you eat or drink or whatever you do, do it all for the glory of God.^{(A) 32} Do not cause anyone to stumble,^(B) whether Jews, Greeks or the church of God^(C)— ³³ even as I try to please everyone in every way.^(D) For I am not seeking my own good but the good of many,^(E) so that they may be saved.^(F)

Sexual Immorality

¹² “I have the right to do anything,” you say—but not everything is beneficial.^(A) “I have the right to do anything”—but I will not be mastered by anything. ¹³ You say, “Food for the stomach and the stomach for food, and God will destroy them both.”^(B) The body, however, is not meant for sexual immorality but for the Lord,^(C) and the Lord for the body.

²¹ It is better not to eat meat or drink wine or to do anything else that will cause your brother or sister to fall.^(A)

³ They forbid people to marry^(A) and order them to abstain from certain foods,^(B) which God created^(C) to be received with thanksgiving^(D) by those who believe and who know the truth. ⁴ For everything God created is good,^(E) and nothing is to be rejected^(F) if it is received with thanksgiving, ⁵ because it is consecrated by the word of God^(G) and prayer.
