² One person’s faith allows them to eat anything, but another, whose faith is weak, eats only vegetables.^(A)

⁴ For everything God created is good,^(A) and nothing is to be rejected^(B) if it is received with thanksgiving,

²² So whatever you believe about these things keep between yourself and God. Blessed is the one who does not condemn^(A) himself by what he approves. ²³ But whoever has doubts^(B) is condemned if they eat, because their eating is not from faith; and everything that does not come from faith is sin.^[a]

¹⁴ I am convinced, being fully persuaded in the Lord Jesus, that nothing is unclean in itself.^(A) But if anyone regards something as unclean, then for that person it is unclean.^(B)

⁹ Do not be carried away by all kinds of strange teachings.^(A) It is good for our hearts to be strengthened^(B) by grace, not by eating ceremonial foods,^(C) which is of no benefit to those who do so.^(D)

¹² For before certain men came from James,^(A) he used to eat with the Gentiles.^(B) But when they arrived, he began to draw back and separate himself from the Gentiles because he was afraid of those who belonged to the circumcision group.^(C)

³ Everything that lives and moves about will be food for you.^(A) Just as I gave you the green plants, I now give you everything.^(B)

¹⁰ They are only a matter of food^(A) and drink^(B) and various ceremonial washings^(C)—external regulations^(D) applying until the time of the new order.
