¹⁵ For if your brother is grieved by what you eat, ^(A)you are no longer walking in love. ^(B)By what you eat, do not destroy the one for whom Christ died.

¹¹ And so by your knowledge this weak person is ^(A)destroyed, the brother for whom Christ died. ¹² Thus, sinning against your brothers^[a] and ^(B)wounding their conscience when it is weak, ^(C)you sin against Christ.

^2 (A)complete my joy by being ^(B)of the same mind, having the same love, being in full accord and of one mind. ³ Do nothing from ^(C)selfish ambition or ^(D)conceit, but in ^(E)humility count others more significant than yourselves. ⁴ Let each of you ^(F)look not only to his own interests, but also to the interests of others.

¹³ For you were called to freedom, brothers. ^(A)Only do not use your freedom as an opportunity for the flesh, but through love ^(B)serve one another.

² And ^(A)walk in love, ^(B)as Christ loved us and ^(C)gave himself up for us, a ^(D)fragrant ^(E)offering and sacrifice to God.

^4 (A)Love is patient and ^(B)kind; love ^(C)does not envy or boast; it ^(D)is not arrogant ⁵ or rude. It ^(E)does not insist on its own way; it ^(F)is not irritable or resentful;^[a]

Food Offered to Idols

8 Now concerning^{[a] (A)}food offered to idols: we know that ^(B)“all of us possess knowledge.” This “knowledge” ^(C)puffs up, ^(D)but love builds up.

^2 (A)Let each of us please his neighbor for his good, to build him up.

^20 (A)Do not, for the sake of food, destroy the work of God. ^(B)Everything is indeed clean, but ^(C)it is wrong for anyone to make another stumble by what he eats.
