¹² The night is far spent, the day is at hand. ^(A)Therefore let us cast off the works of darkness, and ^(B)let us put on the armor of light.

^31 (A)Cast away from you all the transgressions which you have committed, and get yourselves a ^(B)new heart and a new spirit. For why should you die, O house of Israel? ³² For ^(C)I have no pleasure in the death of one who dies,” says the Lord God. “Therefore turn and ^(D)live!”

¹¹ And have ^(A)no fellowship with the unfruitful works of darkness, but rather ^[a]expose them.

^7 (A)by the word of truth, by ^(B)the power of God, by ^(C)the armor of righteousness on the right hand and on the left,

Doers—Not Hearers Only

²¹ Therefore ^(A)lay aside all filthiness and ^[a]overflow of wickedness, and receive with meekness the implanted word, ^(B)which is able to save your souls.

^11 (A)Put on the whole armor of God, that you may be able to stand against the ^[a]wiles of the devil. ¹² For we do not wrestle against flesh and blood, but against ^(B)principalities, against powers, against ^(C)the rulers of ^[b]the darkness of this age, against spiritual hosts of wickedness in the heavenly places. ^13 (D)Therefore take up the whole armor of God, that you may be able to withstand ^(E)in the evil day, and having done all, to stand.

¹⁴ Stand therefore, ^(F)having girded your waist with truth, ^(G)having put on the breastplate of righteousness, ^15 (H)and having shod your feet with the preparation of the gospel of peace; ¹⁶ above all, taking ^(I)the shield of faith with which you will be able to quench all the fiery darts of the wicked one. ¹⁷ And ^(J)take the helmet of salvation, and ^(K)the sword of the Spirit, which is the word of God; ^18 (L)praying always with all prayer and supplication in the Spirit, ^(M)being watchful to this end with all perseverance and ^(N)supplication for all the saints—

^8 (A)But now you yourselves are to put off all these: anger, wrath, malice, blasphemy, filthy language out of your mouth. ⁹ Do not lie to one another, since you have put off the old man with his deeds, ¹⁰ and have put on the new man who ^(B)is renewed in knowledge ^(C)according to the image of Him who ^(D)created him, ¹¹ where there is neither ^(E)Greek nor Jew, circumcised nor uncircumcised, barbarian, Scythian, slave nor free, ^(F)but Christ is all and in all.

Character of the New Man

¹² Therefore, ^(G)as the elect of God, holy and beloved, ^(H)put on tender mercies, kindness, humility, meekness, longsuffering; ^13 (I)bearing with one another, and forgiving one another, if anyone has a complaint against another; even as Christ forgave you, so you also must do. ^14 (J)But above all these things ^(K)put on love, which is the ^(L)bond of perfection. ¹⁵ And let ^(M)the peace of God rule in your hearts, ^(N)to which also you were called ^(O)in one body; and ^(P)be thankful. ¹⁶ Let the word of Christ dwell in you richly in all wisdom, teaching and admonishing one another ^(Q)in psalms and hymns and spiritual songs, singing with grace in your hearts to the Lord. ¹⁷ And ^(R)whatever you do in word or deed, do all in the name of the Lord Jesus, giving thanks to God the Father through Him.
