⁶ We have different gifts,^(A) according to the grace given to each of us. If your gift is prophesying,^(B) then prophesy in accordance with your^[a] faith;^(C)

¹⁰ Each of you should use whatever gift you have received to serve others,^(A) as faithful^(B) stewards of God’s grace in its various forms. ¹¹ If anyone speaks, they should do so as one who speaks the very words of God.^(C) If anyone serves, they should do so with the strength God provides,^(D) so that in all things God may be praised^(E) through Jesus Christ. To him be the glory and the power for ever and ever. Amen.^(F)

⁷ I wish that all of you were as I am.^(A) But each of you has your own gift from God; one has this gift, another has that.^(B)

²⁸ And God has placed in the church^(A) first of all apostles,^(B) second prophets,^(C) third teachers, then miracles, then gifts of healing,^(D) of helping, of guidance,^(E) and of different kinds of tongues.^{(F) 29} Are all apostles? Are all prophets? Are all teachers? Do all work miracles? ³⁰ Do all have gifts of healing? Do all speak in tongues^[a]?^(G) Do all interpret? ³¹ Now eagerly desire^(H) the greater gifts.

Love Is Indispensable

And yet I will show you the most excellent way.

⁴ There are different kinds of gifts, but the same Spirit^(A) distributes them. ⁵ There are different kinds of service, but the same Lord. ⁶ There are different kinds of working, but in all of them and in everyone^(B) it is the same God^(C) at work.

⁷ Now to each one the manifestation of the Spirit is given for the common good.^{(D) 8} To one there is given through the Spirit a message of wisdom,^(E) to another a message of knowledge^(F) by means of the same Spirit, ⁹ to another faith^(G) by the same Spirit, to another gifts of healing^(H) by that one Spirit, ¹⁰ to another miraculous powers,^(I) to another prophecy,^(J) to another distinguishing between spirits,^(K) to another speaking in different kinds of tongues,^[a](L) and to still another the interpretation of tongues.^{[b] 11} All these are the work of one and the same Spirit,^(M) and he distributes them to each one, just as he determines.

Humble Service in the Body of Christ

³ For by the grace given me^(A) I say to every one of you: Do not think of yourself more highly than you ought, but rather think of yourself with sober judgment, in accordance with the faith God has distributed to each of you.

³ But the one who prophesies speaks to people for their strengthening,^(A) encouraging^(B) and comfort. ⁴ Anyone who speaks in a tongue^(C) edifies^(D) themselves, but the one who prophesies^(E) edifies the church. ⁵ I would like every one of you to speak in tongues,^[a] but I would rather have you prophesy.^(F) The one who prophesies is greater than the one who speaks in tongues,^[b] unless someone interprets, so that the church may be edified.^(G)

¹¹ I long to see you^(A) so that I may impart to you some spiritual gift^(B) to make you strong—
