¹⁰ Love each other with genuine affection,^[a] and take delight in honoring each other.

³⁴ So now I am giving you a new commandment: Love each other. Just as I have loved you, you should love each other. ³⁵ Your love for one another will prove to the world that you are my disciples.”

³ Don’t be selfish; don’t try to impress others. Be humble, thinking of others as better than yourselves.

13 Keep on loving each other as brothers and sisters.^[a]

¹¹ Dear friends, since God loved us that much, we surely ought to love each other.

All Christians

⁸ Finally, all of you should be of one mind. Sympathize with each other. Love each other as brothers and sisters.^[a] Be tenderhearted, and keep a humble attitude. ⁹ Don’t repay evil for evil. Don’t retaliate with insults when people insult you. Instead, pay them back with a blessing. That is what God has called you to do, and he will grant you his blessing.

²² You were cleansed from your sins when you obeyed the truth, so now you must show sincere love to each other as brothers and sisters.^[a] Love each other deeply with all your heart.^[b]

¹⁷ Respect everyone, and love the family of believers.^[a] Fear God, and respect the king.

⁹ But we don’t need to write to you about the importance of loving each other,^[a] for God himself has taught you to love one another.

Unity in the Body

4 Therefore I, a prisoner for serving the Lord, beg you to lead a life worthy of your calling, for you have been called by God. ² Always be humble and gentle. Be patient with each other, making allowance for each other’s faults because of your love. ³ Make every effort to keep yourselves united in the Spirit, binding yourselves together with peace.
