²⁸ As regards the gospel, they are enemies for your sake. But as regards election, they are ^(A)beloved for the sake of their forefathers.

¹⁵ Yet ^(A)the Lord set his heart in love on your fathers and chose their offspring after them, you above all peoples, as you are this day.

⁷ It was not because you were more in number than any other people that the Lord set his love on you and chose you, for you were the fewest of all peoples, ⁸ but ^(A)it is because the Lord loves you and is keeping ^(B)the oath that he swore to your fathers, that the Lord has brought you out with a mighty hand and redeemed you from the house of slavery, from the hand of Pharaoh king of Egypt.

⁷ What then? ^(A)Israel failed to obtain what it was seeking. The elect obtained it, but the rest ^(B)were hardened,

⁵ To them belong ^(A)the patriarchs, and from their race, according to the flesh, is the Christ, ^(B)who is God over all, ^(C)blessed forever. Amen.

^45 (A)But ^(B)when the Jews^[a] saw the crowds, they were filled with ^(C)jealousy and began to contradict what was spoken by Paul, ^(D)reviling him. ⁴⁶ And Paul and Barnabas spoke out boldly, saying, “It was necessary that the word of God ^(E)be spoken first to you. ^(F)Since you thrust it aside and judge yourselves ^(G)unworthy of eternal life, behold, we ^(H)are turning to the Gentiles.

⁴³ Therefore I tell you, the kingdom of God ^(A)will be taken away from you and given to a people ^(B)producing its fruits.

^15 (A)who killed both the Lord Jesus and ^(B)the prophets, and drove us out, and displease God and ^(C)oppose all mankind ^16 (D)by hindering us from speaking to the Gentiles that they might be saved—so as always ^(E)to fill up the measure of their sins. But ^(F)wrath has come upon them at last!^[a]
