Gentiles Grafted In

¹¹ So I ask, did they stumble in order that they might fall? By no means! Rather, through their trespass ^(A)salvation has come to the Gentiles, so as to make Israel jealous.

³¹ so they too have now been disobedient in order that by the mercy shown to you they also may now^[a] receive mercy.

¹² Now if their trespass means riches for the world, and if their failure means riches for the Gentiles, how much more will their full inclusion^[a] mean!

⁴⁶ And Paul and Barnabas spoke out boldly, saying, “It was necessary that the word of God ^(A)be spoken first to you. ^(B)Since you thrust it aside and judge yourselves ^(C)unworthy of eternal life, behold, we ^(D)are turning to the Gentiles. ^47 (E)For so the Lord has commanded us, saying,

⁴⁸ And when the Gentiles heard this, they began rejoicing and ^(I)glorifying the word of the Lord, and as many as were appointed to eternal life believed.

¹⁹ But I ask, did Israel not understand? First Moses says,

¹⁴ in order somehow to make my fellow Jews jealous, and ^(A)thus save some of them.

²⁴ And ^(A)some were convinced by what he said, but others disbelieved. ²⁵ And disagreeing among themselves, they departed after Paul had made one statement: ^(B)“The Holy Spirit was right in saying to your fathers through Isaiah the prophet:

²⁸ Therefore let it be known to you that ^(G)this ^(H)salvation of God ^(I)has been sent to the Gentiles; ^(J)they will listen.”^[a]

⁶ And when they opposed and reviled him, ^(A)he shook out his garments and said to them, ^(B)“Your blood be on your own heads! ^(C)I am innocent. ^(D)From now on I will go to the Gentiles.”

The Remnant of Israel

11 I ask, then, ^(A)has God rejected his people? By no means! For ^(B)I myself am an Israelite, a descendant of Abraham,^[a] a member of the tribe of Benjamin.
