⁶ But the righteousness of faith speaks in this way, ^(A)“Do not say in your heart, ‘Who will ascend into heaven?’ ” (that is, to bring Christ down from above)

The Choice of Life or Death

¹¹ “For this commandment which I command you today ^(A)is ^[a]not too mysterious for you, nor is it far off. ^12 (B)It is not in heaven, that you should say, ‘Who will ascend into heaven for us and bring it to us, that we may hear it and do it?’ ¹³ Nor is it beyond the sea, that you should say, ‘Who will go over the sea for us and bring it to us, that we may hear it and do it?’ ¹⁴ But the word is very near you, ^(C)in your mouth and in your heart, that you may do it.

⁸ Therefore He says:

^9 (B)(Now this, “He ascended”—what does it mean but that He also ^[a]first descended into the lower parts of the earth? ¹⁰ He who descended is also the One ^(C)who ascended far above all the heavens, ^(D)that He might fill all things.)

¹² If I have told you earthly things and you do not believe, how will you believe if I tell you heavenly things? ^13 (A)No one has ascended to heaven but He who came down from heaven, that is, the Son of Man ^[a]who is in heaven.

^58 (A)This is the bread which came down from heaven—not ^(B)as your fathers ate the manna, and are dead. He who eats this bread will live forever.”

⁹ and be found in Him, not having ^(A)my own righteousness, which is from the law, but ^(B)that which is through faith in Christ, the righteousness which is from God by faith;

Present Condition of Israel

³⁰ What shall we say then? ^(A)That Gentiles, who did not pursue righteousness, have attained to righteousness, ^(B)even the righteousness of faith; ³¹ but Israel, ^(C)pursuing the law of righteousness, ^(D)has not attained to the law ^[a]of righteousness.

The Promise Granted Through Faith

¹³ For the promise that he would be the ^(A)heir of the world was not to Abraham or to his seed through the law, but through the righteousness of faith.
