⁶ But ^(A)the righteousness based on faith says, ^(B)“Do not say in your heart, ‘Who will ascend into heaven?’” (that is, to bring Christ down)

The Choice of Life and Death

¹¹ “For this commandment that I command you today ^(A)is not too hard for you, neither is it far off. ^12 (B)It is not in heaven, that you should say, ‘Who will ascend to heaven for us and bring it to us, that we may hear it and do it?’ ¹³ Neither is it beyond the sea, that you should say, ‘Who will go over the sea for us and bring it to us, that we may hear it and do it?’ ¹⁴ But the word is very near you. It is in your mouth and in your heart, so that you can do it.

⁸ Therefore it says,

⁹ (^(C)In saying, “He ascended,” what does it mean but that he had also descended into ^(D)the lower regions, the earth?^{[b] 10} He who descended is the one who also ^(E)ascended ^(F)far above all the heavens, that he might ^(G)fill all things.)

¹² If I have told you earthly things and you do not believe, how can you believe if I tell you heavenly things? ^13 (A)No one has ^(B)ascended into heaven except ^(C)he who descended from heaven, the Son of Man.^[a]

^58 (A)This is the bread that came down from heaven, not like the bread^[a] the fathers ate, and died. Whoever feeds on this bread will live forever.”

⁹ and be found in him, not having ^(A)a righteousness of my own that comes from the law, but ^(B)that which comes through faith in Christ, the righteousness from God that depends on faith—

Israel's Unbelief

³⁰ What shall we say, then? ^(A)That Gentiles who did not pursue righteousness have attained it, that is, ^(B)a righteousness that is by faith; ³¹ but that Israel ^(C)who pursued a law that would lead to righteousness^{[a] (D)}did not succeed in reaching that law.

The Promise Realized Through Faith

¹³ For ^(A)the promise to Abraham and his offspring ^(B)that he would be heir of the world did not come through the law but through the righteousness of faith.
