10 Brothers,^[a] my heart's desire and prayer to God for them is that they may be saved.

^20 (A)To the Jews I became as a Jew, in order to win Jews. To those under the law I became as one under the law (though not being myself under the law) that I might win those under the law. ²¹ To ^(B)those outside the law I became ^(C)as one outside the law (not being outside the law of God but ^(D)under the law of Christ) that I might win those outside the law. ^22 (E)To the weak I became weak, that I might win the weak. ^(F)I have become all things to all people, that ^(G)by all means I might save some.

³⁴ Not that ^(A)the testimony that I receive is from man, but I say these things so that you may be saved.

God's Sovereign Choice

9 ^(A)I am speaking the truth in Christ—I am not lying; my conscience bears me witness in the Holy Spirit— ² that I have great sorrow and unceasing anguish in my heart. ³ For ^(B)I could wish that I myself were ^(C)accursed and cut off from Christ for the sake of my brothers,^[a] my kinsmen ^(D)according to the flesh.

^34 (A)O Jerusalem, Jerusalem, the city that ^(B)kills the prophets and stones those who are sent to it! ^(C)How often would I have ^(D)gathered ^(E)your children together ^(F)as a hen gathers her brood ^(G)under her wings, and ^(H)you were not willing!

¹³ Remember Abraham, Isaac, and Israel, your servants, to whom you ^(A)swore by your own self, and said to them, ^(B)‘I will multiply your offspring as the stars of heaven, and all this land that I have promised I will give to your offspring, and they shall inherit it forever.’”

²³ Moreover, as for me, far be it from me that I should sin against the Lord by ceasing ^(A)to pray for you, ^(B)and I will instruct you in the good and the right way.
