²¹ because, although they knew God, they did not glorify Him as God, nor were thankful, but ^(A)became futile in their thoughts, and their foolish hearts were darkened.

The New Man

¹⁷ This I say, therefore, and testify in the Lord, that you should ^(A)no longer walk as ^[a]the rest of the Gentiles walk, in the futility of their mind, ¹⁸ having their understanding darkened, being alienated from the life of God, because of the ignorance that is in them, because of the ^(B)blindness of their heart;

⁵ Thus says the Lord:

¹⁵ And they ^(A)rejected His statutes ^(B)and His covenant that He had made with their fathers, and His testimonies which He had testified against them; they followed ^(C)idols, ^(D)became idolaters, and went after the nations who were all around them, concerning whom the Lord had charged them that they should ^(E)not do like them.

² For men will be lovers of themselves, lovers of money, boasters, proud, blasphemers, disobedient to parents, unthankful, unholy,

⁷ saying with a loud voice, ^(A)“Fear God and give glory to Him, for the hour of His judgment has come; ^(B)and worship Him who made heaven and earth, the sea and springs of water.”

⁹ But you are a chosen generation, a royal priesthood, a holy nation, His own special people, that you may proclaim the praises of Him who called you out of ^(A)darkness into His marvelous light;
