12 He will raise a signal for the nations
and will assemble the outcasts of Israel
and gather the dispersed of Judah
from the four corners of the earth.(B)
13 The jealousy of Ephraim shall depart;
the hostility of Judah shall be cut off;
Ephraim shall not be jealous of Judah,
and Judah shall not be hostile toward Ephraim.(C)
14 But they shall swoop down on the backs of the Philistines in the west;
together they shall plunder the people of the east.
They shall put forth their hand against Edom and Moab,
and the Ammonites shall obey them.(D)
15 And the Lord will dry up[b]
the tongue of the sea of Egypt
and will wave his hand over the River
with his scorching wind
and will split it into seven channels
and make a way to cross on foot;(E)
16 so there shall be a highway from Assyria
for the remnant that is left of his people,
as there was for Israel

12 You will say on that day:
“I will give thanks to you, O Lord,
for though you were angry with me,
your anger turned away,
and you comforted me.(G)
2 Surely God is my salvation;
I will trust and will not be afraid,
for the Lord[c] is my strength and my might;
he has become my salvation.”(H)
3 With joy you will draw water from the wells of salvation.(I) 4 And you will say on that day:
“Give thanks to the Lord;
call on his name;
make known his deeds among the nations;
proclaim that his name is exalted.

11 In that day(A) the Lord will reach out his hand a second time to reclaim the surviving remnant(B) of his people from Assyria,(C) from Lower Egypt, from Upper Egypt,(D) from Cush,[a](E) from Elam,(F) from Babylonia,[b] from Hamath(G) and from the islands(H) of the Mediterranean.(I)
12 He will raise a banner(J) for the nations
and gather(K) the exiles of Israel;(L)
he will assemble the scattered people(M) of Judah
from the four quarters of the earth.(N)
13 Ephraim’s jealousy will vanish,
and Judah’s enemies[c] will be destroyed;
Ephraim will not be jealous of Judah,
nor Judah hostile toward Ephraim.(O)
14 They will swoop down on the slopes of Philistia(P) to the west;
together they will plunder the people to the east.(Q)
They will subdue Edom(R) and Moab,(S)
and the Ammonites(T) will be subject to them.(U)
15 The Lord will dry up(V)
the gulf of the Egyptian sea;

He will break it up into seven streams
so that anyone can cross over in sandals.(Z)

“I will praise(AF) you, Lord.

The Reign and Indignation of God

to vent his anger in fury

17 Those who sanctify and purify themselves to go into the gardens, following the one in the center, eating the flesh of pigs, vermin, and rodents, shall come to an end together, says the Lord,(I) 18 for I know[c] their works and their thoughts.
I am[d] coming to gather all nations and tongues, and they shall come and shall see my glory,(J) 19 and I will set a sign among them. From them I will send survivors to the nations, to Tarshish, Put,[e] and Lud, to Meshech,[f] Tubal, and Javan, to the coastlands far away that have not heard of my fame or seen my glory, and they shall declare my glory among the nations.(K) 20 They shall bring all your kindred from all the nations as an offering to the Lord, on horses, and in chariots, and in litters, and on mules, and on dromedaries, to my holy mountain Jerusalem, says the Lord, just as the Israelites bring a grain offering in a clean vessel to the house of the Lord.(L)

and not give delivery?” says the Lord.
“Do I close up the womb
when I bring to delivery?” says your God.

18 “And I, because of what they have planned and done,(AH) am about to come[a] and gather the people of all nations(AI) and languages, and they will come and see my glory.(AJ)
19 “I will set a sign(AK) among them, and I will send some of those who survive(AL) to the nations—to Tarshish,(AM) to the Libyans[b] and Lydians(AN) (famous as archers), to Tubal(AO) and Greece,(AP) and to the distant islands(AQ) that have not heard of my fame or seen my glory.(AR) They will proclaim my glory among the nations. 20 And they will bring(AS) all your people, from all the nations, to my holy mountain(AT) in Jerusalem as an offering to the Lord—on horses, in chariots and wagons, and on mules and camels,”(AU) says the Lord. “They will bring them, as the Israelites bring their grain offerings, to the temple of the Lord in ceremonially clean vessels.(AV)
