14 But how are they to call on one in whom they have not believed?[a] And how are they to believe[b] in one of whom they have never heard? And how are they to hear without someone to proclaim him? 15 And how are they to proclaim him unless they are sent? As it is written, “How beautiful are the feet of those who bring good news!”(A) 16 But not all have obeyed the good news,[c] for Isaiah says, “Lord, who has believed[d] our message?”(B) 17 So faith[e] comes from what is heard, and what is heard comes through the word of Christ.[f]

18 But I ask, have they not heard? Indeed they have:

“Their voice has gone out to all the earth
    and their words to the ends of the world.”(C)

19 Again I ask, did Israel not understand? First Moses says,

“I will use those who are not a nation to make you jealous;
    with a foolish nation I will provoke you.”(D)

20 Then Isaiah is so bold as to say,

“I have been found by those who did not seek me;
    I have shown myself to those who did not ask for me.”(E)

21 But of Israel he says, “All day long I have held out my hands to a disobedient and contrary people.”(F)

14 How, then, can they call on the one they have not believed in? And how can they believe in the one of whom they have not heard? And how can they hear without someone preaching to them? 15 And how can anyone preach unless they are sent? As it is written: “How beautiful are the feet of those who bring good news!”[a](A)

16 But not all the Israelites accepted the good news.(B) For Isaiah says, “Lord, who has believed our message?”[b](C) 17 Consequently, faith comes from hearing the message,(D) and the message is heard through the word about Christ.(E) 18 But I ask: Did they not hear? Of course they did:

“Their voice has gone out into all the earth,
    their words to the ends of the world.”[c](F)

19 Again I ask: Did Israel not understand? First, Moses says,

“I will make you envious(G) by those who are not a nation;
    I will make you angry by a nation that has no understanding.”[d](H)

20 And Isaiah boldly says,

“I was found by those who did not seek me;
    I revealed myself to those who did not ask for me.”[e](I)

21 But concerning Israel he says,

“All day long I have held out my hands
    to a disobedient and obstinate people.”[f](J)
