⁴ Or despisest thou the riches of His goodness and forbearance and longsuffering, not knowing that the goodness of God leadeth thee to repentance?

¹⁶ Nonetheless, for this cause I obtained mercy, that in me first Jesus Christ might show forth all longsuffering as a pattern for those who should hereafter believe in Him to life everlasting.

¹⁸ surely Thou didst set them in slippery places. Thou didst cast them down into destruction!

¹¹ Because sentence against an evil work is not executed speedily, therefore the heart of the sons of men is fully set in them to do evil.

¹² Though a sinner does evil a hundred times and his days be prolonged, yet surely I know that it shall be well with those who fear God, who fear before Him.

¹³ But it shall not be well with the wicked; neither shall he prolong his days, which are as a shadow, because he feareth not before God.

³⁵ (yea, a sword shall pierce through thy own soul also), that the thoughts of many hearts may be revealed.”
