9 And the fifth angel blew his trumpet, and I saw a star that had fallen from heaven to earth, and he was given the key to the shaft of the bottomless pit;(A) 2 he opened the shaft of the bottomless pit, and from the shaft rose smoke like the smoke of a great furnace, and the sun and the air were darkened with the smoke from the shaft.(B) 3 Then from the smoke came locusts on the earth, and they were given authority like the authority of scorpions of the earth.(C) 4 They were told not to damage the grass of the earth or any green growth or any tree, but only those people who do not have the seal of God on their foreheads.(D) 5 They were allowed to torment them for five months but not to kill them, and the agony suffered was like that caused by a scorpion when it stings someone.(E) 6 And in those days people will seek death but will not find it; they will long to die, but death will flee from them.(F)
7 In appearance the locusts were like horses equipped for battle. On their heads were what looked like crowns of gold; their faces were like human faces,(G) 8 their hair like women’s hair, and their teeth like lions’ teeth;(H) 9 they had scales like iron breastplates, and the noise of their wings was like the noise of many chariots with horses rushing into battle.(I) 10 They have tails like scorpions, with stingers, and in their tails is their power to harm people for five months. 11 They have as king over them the angel of the bottomless pit; his name in Hebrew is Abaddon,[a] and in Greek he is called Apollyon.[b](J)
12 The first woe has passed. There are still two woes to come.(K)
13 Then the sixth angel blew his trumpet, and I heard a voice from the horns[c] of the golden altar before God,(L) 14 saying to the sixth angel who had the trumpet, “Release the four angels who are bound at the great River Euphrates.”(M) 15 So the four angels were released, who had been held ready for the hour, the day, the month, and the year, to kill a third of humankind. 16 The number of the troops of cavalry was two hundred million; I heard their number.(N) 17 And this was how I saw the horses in my vision: the riders wore breastplates the color of fire and of sapphire[d] and of sulfur; the heads of the horses were like lions’ heads, and fire and smoke and sulfur came out of their mouths.(O) 18 By these three plagues a third of humankind was killed, by the fire and smoke and sulfur coming out of the horses’[e] mouths. 19 For the power of the horses is in their mouths and in their tails; their tails are like serpents, with heads, and with them they inflict harm.
20 The rest of humankind, who were not killed by these plagues, did not repent of the works of their hands or give up worshiping demons and idols of gold and silver and bronze and stone and wood, which cannot see or hear or walk.(P) 21 And they did not repent of their murders or their sorceries or their prostitution or their thefts.

9 El quinto ángel tocó la trompeta, y vi una estrella que cayó del cielo a la tierra. Y se le dio la llave del pozo del abismo. 2 Abrió el pozo del abismo, y del pozo subió humo como humo de un gran horno, y el sol y el aire se oscurecieron por el humo del pozo. 3 Del humo salieron langostas sobre la tierra, y se les dio poder, como el poder que tienen los escorpiones de la tierra. 4 Se les mandó que no dañaran la hierba de la tierra, ni cosa verde alguna ni ningún árbol, sino solamente a los hombres que no tuvieran el sello de Dios en sus frentes. 5 Pero no se les permitió que los mataran, sino que los atormentaran cinco meses; y su tormento era como el tormento del escorpión cuando hiere al hombre. 6 En aquellos días los hombres buscarán la muerte, pero no la hallarán; ansiarán morir, pero la muerte huirá de ellos.
7 El aspecto de las langostas era semejante a caballos preparados para la guerra; en las cabezas tenían como coronas de oro, sus caras eran como caras humanas, 8 tenían cabello como cabello de mujer y sus dientes eran como de leones; 9 tenían corazas como corazas de hierro y el ruido de sus alas era como el estruendo de muchos carros de caballos corriendo a la batalla; 10 tenían colas como de escorpiones, y también aguijones, y en sus colas tenían poder para dañar a los hombres durante cinco meses. 11 Sobre ellos tienen como rey al ángel del abismo, cuyo nombre en hebreo es Abadón, y en griego, Apolión.
12 El primer ay pasó; pero vienen aún dos ayes después de esto.
13 El sexto ángel tocó la trompeta, y oí una voz de entre los cuatro cuernos del altar de oro que estaba delante de Dios, 14 la cual decía al sexto ángel que tenía la trompeta: «¡Desata a los cuatro ángeles que están atados junto al gran río Éufrates!» 15 Y fueron desatados los cuatro ángeles que estaban preparados para la hora, día, mes y año, a fin de matar la tercera parte de los hombres. 16 Y el número de los ejércitos de los jinetes era de doscientos millones. Yo oí su número. 17 Así vi en visión los caballos y sus jinetes, que tenían corazas de fuego, zafiro y azufre. Las cabezas de los caballos eran como cabezas de leones, y de sus bocas salía fuego, humo y azufre. 18 Por estas tres plagas fue muerta la tercera parte de los hombres: por el fuego, el humo y el azufre que salía de sus bocas, 19 pues el poder de los caballos estaba en sus bocas y en sus colas, porque sus colas, semejantes a serpientes, tenían cabezas y con ellas dañan.
20 Los demás hombres, los que no fueron muertos con estas plagas, ni aun así se arrepintieron de las obras de sus manos ni dejaron de adorar a los demonios y a las imágenes de oro, plata, bronce, piedra y madera, las cuales no pueden ver ni oír ni andar. 21 No se arrepintieron de sus homicidios, ni de sus hechicerías, ni de su fornicación, ni de sus robos.

9 The fifth angel sounded his trumpet, and I saw a star that had fallen from the sky to the earth.(A) The star was given the key(B) to the shaft of the Abyss.(C) 2 When he opened the Abyss, smoke rose from it like the smoke from a gigantic furnace.(D) The sun and sky were darkened(E) by the smoke from the Abyss.(F) 3 And out of the smoke locusts(G) came down on the earth and were given power like that of scorpions(H) of the earth. 4 They were told not to harm(I) the grass of the earth or any plant or tree,(J) but only those people who did not have the seal of God on their foreheads.(K) 5 They were not allowed to kill them but only to torture them for five months.(L) And the agony they suffered was like that of the sting of a scorpion(M) when it strikes. 6 During those days people will seek death but will not find it; they will long to die, but death will elude them.(N)

13 The sixth angel sounded his trumpet, and I heard a voice coming from the four horns(X) of the golden altar that is before God.(Y) 14 It said to the sixth angel who had the trumpet, “Release the four angels(Z) who are bound at the great river Euphrates.”(AA) 15 And the four angels who had been kept ready for this very hour and day and month and year were released(AB) to kill a third(AC) of mankind.(AD) 16 The number of the mounted troops was twice ten thousand times ten thousand. I heard their number.(AE)
17 The horses and riders I saw in my vision looked like this: Their breastplates were fiery red, dark blue, and yellow as sulfur. The heads of the horses resembled the heads of lions, and out of their mouths(AF) came fire, smoke and sulfur.(AG) 18 A third(AH) of mankind was killed(AI) by the three plagues of fire, smoke and sulfur(AJ) that came out of their mouths. 19 The power of the horses was in their mouths and in their tails; for their tails were like snakes, having heads with which they inflict injury.
20 The rest of mankind who were not killed by these plagues still did not repent(AK) of the work of their hands;(AL) they did not stop worshiping demons,(AM) and idols of gold, silver, bronze, stone and wood—idols that cannot see or hear or walk.(AN) 21 Nor did they repent(AO) of their murders, their magic arts,(AP) their sexual immorality(AQ) or their thefts.
