The Sealed of Israel
7 After these things I saw four angels standing at the four corners of the earth, (A)holding the four winds of the earth, (B)that the wind should not blow on the earth, on the sea, or on any tree. 2 Then I saw another angel ascending from the east, having the seal of the living God. And he cried with a loud voice to the four angels to whom it was granted to harm the earth and the sea, 3 saying, (C)“Do not harm the earth, the sea, or the trees till we have sealed the servants of our God (D)on their foreheads.” 4 (E)And I heard the number of those who were sealed. (F)One hundred and forty-four thousand (G)of all the tribes of the children of Israel were sealed:
5 of the tribe of Judah twelve thousand were sealed;
of the tribe of Reuben twelve thousand were [a]sealed;
of the tribe of Gad twelve thousand were sealed;
6 of the tribe of Asher twelve thousand were sealed;
of the tribe of Naphtali twelve thousand were sealed;
of the tribe of Manasseh twelve thousand were sealed;
7 of the tribe of Simeon twelve thousand were sealed;
of the tribe of Levi twelve thousand were sealed;
of the tribe of Issachar twelve thousand were sealed;
8 of the tribe of Zebulun twelve thousand were sealed;
of the tribe of Joseph twelve thousand were sealed;
of the tribe of Benjamin twelve thousand were sealed.
A Multitude from the Great Tribulation
9 After these things I looked, and behold, (H)a great multitude which no one could number, (I)of all nations, tribes, peoples, and tongues, standing before the throne and before the Lamb, (J)clothed with white robes, with palm branches in their hands, 10 and crying out with a loud voice, saying, (K)“Salvation belongs to our God (L)who sits on the throne, and to the Lamb!” 11 (M)All the angels stood around the throne and the elders and the four living creatures, and fell on their faces before the throne and (N)worshiped God, 12 (O)saying:
“Amen! Blessing and glory and wisdom,
Thanksgiving and honor and power and might,
Be to our God forever and ever.
Amen.”
13 Then one of the elders answered, saying to me, “Who are these arrayed in (P)white robes, and where did they come from?”
14 And I said to him, [b]“Sir, you know.”
So he said to me, (Q)“These are the ones who come out of the great tribulation, and (R)washed their robes and made them white in the blood of the Lamb. 15 Therefore they are before the throne of God, and serve Him day and night in His temple. And He who sits on the throne will (S)dwell among them. 16 (T)They shall neither hunger anymore nor thirst anymore; (U)the sun shall not strike them, nor any heat; 17 for the Lamb who is in the midst of the throne (V)will shepherd them and lead them to [c]living fountains of waters. (W)And God will wipe away every tear from their eyes.”

Le peuple de Dieu et le septième sceau
7 Après cela, je vis quatre anges debout aux quatre coins de la terre. Ils retenaient les quatre vents de la terre afin qu'il ne souffle pas de vent, ni sur la terre, ni sur la mer, ni sur aucun arbre. 2 Et je vis un autre ange qui montait du côté du soleil levant et qui tenait le sceau du Dieu vivant. Il cria d'une voix forte aux quatre anges qui avaient reçu le pouvoir de faire du mal à la terre et à la mer: 3 «Ne faites pas de mal à la terre, ni à la mer, ni aux arbres, avant que nous ayons marqué d’une empreinte le front des serviteurs de notre Dieu.»
4 Puis j'entendis le nombre de ceux qui avaient été marqués de cette empreinte. Ils étaient 144'000, de toutes les tribus d’Israël: 5 de la tribu de Juda, 12'000 marqués de cette empreinte; de la tribu de Ruben, 12'000; de la tribu de Gad, 12'000; 6 de la tribu d'Aser, 12'000; de la tribu de Nephthali, 12'000; de la tribu de Manassé, 12'000; 7 de la tribu de Siméon, 12'000; de la tribu de Lévi, 12'000; de la tribu d'Issacar, 12'000; 8 de la tribu de Zabulon, 12'000; de la tribu de Joseph, 12'000; de la tribu de Benjamin, 12'000, tous marqués de cette empreinte.
9 Après cela, je regardai et je vis une foule immense que personne ne pouvait compter. C’étaient des hommes de toute nation, de toute tribu, de tout peuple et de toute langue. Ils se tenaient debout devant le trône et devant l'Agneau, habillés de robes blanches, des feuilles de palmiers à la main, 10 et ils criaient d'une voix forte: «Le salut est à notre Dieu qui est assis sur le trône et à l'Agneau.» 11 Tous les anges qui se tenaient autour du trône, des anciens et des quatre êtres vivants se prosternèrent, le visage contre terre, devant le trône et ils adorèrent Dieu 12 en disant: «Amen! La louange, la gloire, la sagesse, la reconnaissance, l'honneur, la puissance et la force sont à notre Dieu, aux siècles des siècles! Amen!»
13 L'un des anciens prit la parole et me dit: «Ceux qui sont habillés d’une robe blanche, qui sont-ils et d'où sont-ils venus?» 14 Je lui répondis: «[Mon] seigneur, tu le sais.» Il me dit alors: «Ce sont ceux qui viennent de la grande tribulation. Ils ont lavé leur robe, ils l’ont blanchie dans le sang de l'Agneau. 15 C'est pourquoi ils se tiennent devant le trône de Dieu et le servent jour et nuit dans son temple. Celui qui est assis sur le trône les abritera sous sa tente. 16 Ils n'auront plus faim, ils n'auront plus soif, le soleil ne les frappera plus, ni aucune chaleur brûlante.[a] 17 En effet, l'Agneau qui est au milieu du trône prendra soin d’eux et les conduira aux sources des eaux de la vie, et Dieu essuiera toute larme de leurs yeux.»
